I loved this book. I was a teacher's aide in a ESL class and there were times that we would have to come up with something quick. I loved the simplicity of the stories and the questions that followed. Personally I would purchase one grade level up from the one that you are currently working in just to make the kids stretch a little further. (However, if your class is struggling stick with their grade level)

I really like the Evan-Moore products. They are a good skill-focused addition to our reading series. I teach a combined second-third grade classroom and I have found the reading level of most of these to be a little advanced for beginning of the year second grade, although my third graders do quite well with these. You may want to start with some first grade Evan-Moore Read and Understand products if your second graders tend to be on the low side like mine.
