This review is from: Understanding Cultures Influence on Behavior (Paperback)
Of the many good books on the subject of intercultural communication and psychology, this hits a good balance of readability and academic soundness. Lots of good illustrations. Great text for college intercultural communication courses.

Understanding Culture's Influence (2nd edition) has been my "foundation" book for a college course entitled Diversity In the Workplace. Dr. Brislin uses an easy to follow format which is loaded with excellent analogies, making complex topics understandable.

From theory to practice,

This review is from: Understanding Culture's Influence on Behavior (Paperback)
Understandable, practical book on how societal culture influence human behaviour and how this knowledge can be (and already is) applicated in various cross-cultural training programmes. The author combines the theory with examples from every-day life, so that the book can be understood by non-academic population.

Insuferable and Boring,
This review is from: Understanding Culture's Influence on Behavior (Paperback)
Plainly put, not often do I read literature by someone so desperate to sound smart. It became increasingly difficult to concentrate on the theories and ideas within because of the drivel that encapsulated it. Seriously it came to the point where I was simply reading the summaries at the end of the chapter. If your class requires this book I'd seriously consider trying to find an alternate class to take; this book is awful and most likely the least interesting textbook I have ever had the misfortune of being force fed.
