Understanding Minority-Serving Institutions explores these important institutions while also highlighting their interconnectedness, with the hope of sparking collaboration among the various types. Minority-serving institutions (MSIs) enroll and graduate the majority of students of color in the United States and traditionally include historically Black colleges and universities, Hispanic-serving institutions, tribal colleges, and more recently Asian American- and Pacific Islander-serving institutions. Format: Paperback
Several of the articles in this book, especially those by Gasman are not worthy of an academic endeavor. The tone in her article and in the papers by some of her colleagues is strident and angry. This detracts from any academic worth they may have, which is not much. Gasman is not a lawyer. For her to state that various US Supreme Court decisions were incorrect on legal grounds is absurd. Another author speaks of the "massive, unyielding assault of the Federal government" on American Indians.
Whatever merits a book such as this could have had are utterly damaged by these instances of lack or professionalism and research.
The topic is certainly worthwhile. However, the content of the book is sub-par and cannot be recommended on any basis.

HBCU's are under appreciated and underestimated; a great read! I wish I would have purchased the hard copy instead of the kindle edition to have on my shelf. By D. Houston
