I purchased this book for my elective class for my Master's degree as a required reading but loved it so much I am sending it to my mother to read for enjoyment purposes as well. It is not only a text book but has some great insights as to what to do to just help you change your own way of thinking and living and how to motivate yourself and others on the job and in life in general. It is easy to read, grabs your attention, and keeps you captivated. It is not like reading a text book at all. This book will stay on my shelves for a lifetime.

I read a lot of psychology books. This book is fantastic. Johnmarshall Reeve has a genuine talent to explain delicate subjects elegantly -- and with humor. A very complete manual, totally worth the hefty tag price. Recommended to anyone interested in psychology -- a great read for parents too.

This is an excellent textbook that I would highly recommend to anyone. It is very well written, well organized, extremely clear and understandable, and has very helpful figures and flow charts as well as good black-and-white photos and illustrations. I use the book as a lecturer in the psychology of emotion with my international college students at a top-rated Asian university, and I believe my students (one-third American, two-thirds Asian) also find the book a very good read. I have assigned 9 of the 16 chapters and supplement the book with a reader on emotional intelligence, but I would definitely use the other half of the book if I have the opportunity to teach the course on motivation.

BORING but loaded with knowledge.
I will have to admit this is one of the most boring text books I have ever read. Roughly 460 actual pages to read and I believe 1 picture, it is a dense textbook. Read more
