Tough Slog CD Player Repairing,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Understanding and Servicing CD Players (Newnes) (Hardcover)
There is no substitute for practice as any doctor or lawyer will tell you. The same goes for CD player repairing. With functions highly dependent on micro-controller chips, trouble-shooting a CD player is mostly black box guesswork. Manufacturers' service manuals, if available, usually do not provide test requirements to expedite fault isolation. This book can be read two ways, "it's too complicated for me to get involved," or, "just as I thought, I had to pay to find out what I suspected already, there ain't much help out there." Welcome to the world of throw-away products. Consumer electronics is now so dependent on jealously guarded intellectual property rights the consumption rate has reached epic proportions - so much for building a green economy. This book is more for the curious than for the serious audio repair technician.
