A Great Domestic Terrorism Book,
By
This review is from: Understanding Terrorism in America (Extremism and Democracy) (Paperback)
This is a great book which fills a void in the literature on domestic terrorism. The thesis is that America is no stranger to terrorism, and it has plenty of historical and empirical examples to show this. Hewitt is an excellent counterterrorism policy expert. I remember having to read his stuff in grad school, and he was spot on then. This little, low-cost reprint (I own the 2007 version) is concise and chock full of ideas which make you think about the role of terrorism in American society in ways which draw attention to our ethnic and socioeconomic cleavages while at the same time pointing out the needs for greater homeland security measures.
