Editorial Reviews

Understanding What We've Grown To Be is the much-anticipated follow up to We Came As Romans wildly successful debut album, To Plant A Seed. Near constant touring launched the band from a regional sensation to a well-known hardcore powerhouse, winning over fans and music critics along the way. Over 2011, the band steadily gained more mainstream attention, with a coveted spot on the Vans Warped Tour and cover feature for tastemakers Alternative Press. The 2011 album is sure to resonate with fans of The Devil Wears Prada, Underoath, and August Burns Red.

Combined with a very competent band, it just hits the right spot quite often. Brian Fleenor  |  5 reviewers made a similar statement

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Hardcore CD of the year (maybe of all time?) September 13, 2011
Format:Audio CD
I'm going to start off saying that I can't say this is the best metal cd of the year, mostly because I'm stoked for Devil Wears Prada new one, but I am going to say its one of the best hardcore cds I've ever listened to. It ranks up there with A Day to Remember's Homesick, or For Those Who Have Heart. Its heavy, yet when it is soft its makes the perfect moments in the cd. I have been listening to these guys since Dreams (their EP) and its awesome to hear them grow with each cd. So if you like hardcore, pretty deep meaningful lyrics and just amazing music in general, this cd is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't ask for more. September 16, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
After first listening to WCAR's Dreams EP, I didn't like the singing. After listening to it a few times, they shortly became my favorite band. I got To Plant A Seed for Christmas the year it came out, and I loved it, and they stayed my favorite band. After listening to the Amazon Samples of Understanding What We've Grown To Be, I thought that a lot of the songs seemed like any other band. After listening to the CD, I realized how wrong I was. This is one of the most amazing CDs I've ever heard, and I'm completely happy that I bought it. Go out and buy it and support them. They're DEFINITELY my favorite band and it will stay that way. I'd give it 100 stars if I could.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album September 18, 2011
By vishock
Format:MP3 Music
I just want to leave a short review, nothing big. This band is awesome. I remember listening to their Dreams song a very long time ago before it was redone and added to their previous album. Understanding What We've Grown To Be seems to be a step up in my opinion from their last album. It is a bit more heavier, at least I think it is, but not by a lot. They sound a bit more refined on this album.

Overall, not much change in style from the previous album other than the songs being newer and a bit better. =p 4.5/5 rounded up to 5/5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it
I love the clean vocalists voice and how they mix his voice with the screamer. An amazing band. Good live shows too.
