Ultimate AD/HD resource for women,
By
This review is from: Understanding Women With AD/HD (Paperback)
No matter what stage of your life you're in, you will find relevant information to help understand the effect that AD/HD has on you. From college/single life to pregnancy and motherhood, topics like medication, hormonal influence, independence, and sexuality will will help to open the doors of this often misunderstood disorder.
Since women usually have inattentive ADD rather than the typical hyperactive, the authors have, in the beginning of the book, expanded upon the criteria for diagnosing AD/HD in women and have created a symptom inventory check-list tailored for women. I found this to be truly a breath of fresh air as I could really relate to the points presented. Sections include: Diagnosis of AD/HD In Women, Medical Issues for Women With AD/HD, Non-Medical Treatment for Women with AD/HD, Associated Disorders in Women with AD/HD, Support From the Environment, Life Stages for Women with AD/HD, and issues and Challenges For Women With AD/HD. This book is a wealth of information and I highly recommend it!

all about women with ADD,
By A Customer
This review is from: Understanding Women With AD/HD (Paperback)
This book is an amazing resource of information about the specific issues of being a woman and having ADD/ADHD. This is the type of book that you would want your husbands, parents, and close friends to read because they will learn so much about you. This is a great book that opens up traits and characteristics that I always thought were part of my personality. I have read many of the ADD/ADHD books for adults out on the market and this one is a must have for counselors, teachers, female students, moms- and any female having to struggle with ADD, also a great book for anyone who had contact with women with ADD.

True insight into those suffering from AD/HD,
This review is from: Understanding Women With AD/HD (Paperback)
"Understanding Women with AD/HD" is a compilation of articles by various medical professionals. Kathleen Nadeau and Patricia Quinn have taken these articles (many of which they contributed to) and put them into a logical order and format so that it is easy for the non-professional to gain a comprehensive understanding of AD/HD as it relates to women. Of all the books on AD/HD I have read this one provides most comprehensive coverage while still being highly approachable. Subjects covered include why the DSM-IV diagnosis may be inadequate, a self-assessment, hormonal influences, depression, deprogramming, women's life stages, and other issues relating to women with AD/HD. Easy to follow, the editors make a complex subject understandable. "Understanding Women with AD/HD" is a highly recommended, authoritative read for anyone desiring an understanding of AD/HD and of particular interest for those whose interest is in the unique problems of women.
