An essential book for every woman,
This review is from: Understanding Your Body: Every Woman's Guide to Gynecology and Health (Paperback)
This is a book that should be in every home. I have turned to this book so many times that the pages are dog-eared with use. It covers every aspect of womens gynecology health. From tests and procedures to birth control, pregnancy and menopause. From explanations of the common womans yearly exam to basic facts about womans surgery, this book is strongly recommended for women that want to understand their body.

I only wish there was a new edition....,

I bought this book back in college - 1988 or so and I still refer to it at least once a year. It was wonderful in explaining that first gynecological exam and still remains a great source of information for basic questions 15 years later. It explains everything from how the reproductive system works to the hysterectomies. It has wonderful information on menstrual cycles, fertility, birth control, sterilization, infections, "female problems", cancer, rape, and surgery. Obviously some of the information on medications and treatments is dated, but the basics will never change. I came today hoping there would be an updated version but I'll have to continue my search for another reference book.

Like so many others, I purchased this book years ago as a college student (02/1988, to be exact) and have relied on it for expert insight on multiple gynecological issues. Just today, my sister-in-law asked a question and I turned to the book for info on in vitro fertilization and voila! It was there! I would highly recommend it for mothers to give to their daughters as it is such a comprehensive guide. My only regret is that there isn't an updated edition. This book is definitely a must-have.

I bought this book years ago, and like another reviewer, I wish there was an updated book...only because it's such a great reference guide. I have recommended this book to many women over the years because it taught me so much as a young woman with many questions of my own due to Endometriosis and PCOS. This book is an excellent source of information for anyone woman who wants clear, thorough and easy to understand basics on just about every topic concerning women's health. Every question I have ever had could be answered in this book alone. I actually wrote Dr. Stewart to thank her for the book years ago - that is how much of a difference it has made in my life - and she actually responded. I still refer to this book after owning it for over 10 years. I'm an avid reader and own many books on women's health and no book has ever come close to being as complete as this one.
