This review is from: Understanding Your Child's Puzzling Behavior: A Guide for Parents of Children with Behavioral, Social, and Learning Challenges (Perfect Paperback)
A book whose time has come! I not only write this review from the perspective of a school psychologist, but moreover, as a parent. If your child is having trouble what can you do? Well I'll tell you...purchasing this book, reading it, and doing what it recommends is a great start. What Dr. Curtis has essentially written is not only a "where to begin" guide, but a "where do I go for help?" guide. Finally, a book that helps parents navigate the many services that can provide relief for their child in need. That said, Understanding Your Child's Puzzling Behavior: A Guide for Parents of Children with Behavioral, Social, and Learning Challenges should hold a prominent place on every parent's book shelf.

This review is from: Understanding Your Child's Puzzling Behavior: A Guide for Parents of Children with Behavioral, Social, and Learning Challenges (Perfect Paperback)
I am a certified special education teacher and the parent of 2 children with Dyslexia. I wish "Understanding Your Child's Puzzling Behavior" had been available to me in 1980 when my oldest child was diagnosed with Dyslexia. Dr. Curtis' book is excellent and a valuable resource for parents and educators. (Diana Potter)

This review is from: Understanding Your Child's Puzzling Behavior: A Guide for Parents of Children with Behavioral, Social, and Learning Challenges (Perfect Paperback)
Any parent concerned about her child's emotions or behavior has enough to deal with. Navigating the psychotherapy world can be confusing and frustrating. Dr. Curtis provides a very thoughtful and thorough guide to getting the answers and help you need. The Glossary of Terms is especially helpful and the section on Parent Resources is invaluable. As a parent and a child psychologist I highly recommend this book.

Dr. Curtis has written an excellent book that can be a great resource for parents and processionals in supporting their efforts with children. Written in a clear, concise, and straightforward manner this book provides resources for working with children who are frustrated and parents who can be frustrate with the child or the world around them that is designed to support them. I have purchased copies for parents I work with and utilize it in a parent support group for children with processing challenges. I also have recommended it to professionals I work with as it fills a void left by too many other books that do not accomplish what Dr. Curtis has.
