No-Age and Dub, Engaged in Eternal Battle,
This review is from: Undertow (Audio CD)
The absolutely fantastic 2nd album from one of the great underrated instrumental punk bands. The sonic equivalent of the primeval birth of a blasted desert world, and the winds that still rip through the vast canyons of its ancient landscape. The carefully crafted and cadenced rock-dub tracks, like "Clockwork Dub", stand out like great stone monuments, in memorium of a direction dub should have taken, but never did. Thank you, Andy, Gabe, and Ted.

when we listen to the current progressive metal sounds on southern lord and hydra head, it's difficult to understand how Blind Idiot God are left out of the equation. ahead of their time by a good 15 years, sometimes castigated for there angular rhythms (if they were jazz nobody would bat an eye), this is ground zero for the current crop, who took BIG, ditched the dub, and replaced it with emo. Undertow is one of those records that defines a genre, much like Murmer does for 80's college rock. a masterpiece, that should be played LOUD.
