This review is from: Underwater Housing Camera Case for Canon Powershot A720, A650, A630, A590, A580, A570, & A560 Digital Cameras (Rated Depth of 30') (Electronics)
I was very pleased with this camera housing. I used it with the Canon PowerShot A590IS 8MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom on a trip to St. John USVI. I took 1800 pictures underwater over 1 week, and there was no leakage, and no vignetting (as suggested by other review). With this particularly camera it was easy to change button settings on the front of the camera (e.g., ISO, exposure, menu settings, etc). I could also easily view the images underwater, which was necessary because I had to delete a few hundred while floating in the water to make room for some turtle shots. The zoom on this my canon is a slider and I was unable to use it effectively while underwater with this housing, but that's more of a problem with the camera than a $20 housing. I was very pleased with the quality of the pictures, which were certainly much better than the disposable underwater cameras I used on previous trips. I also liked the fact that I could have the camera on the beach without worry of sand. The picture quality is not as good out of the water if you don't get rid of salt residue; however, I found it was easy to unscrew the front part to take a few scenery pictures without having to remove the entire camera from the housing. This provided maximum quality out of water and great quality in the water. One tip I'll provide is to use Energizer AA Lithium Battery 7X POWER in the camera. I discovered in the past that these 7X Energizer batteries last forever with digital point and shoot cameras. I shot 1800 pictures (including viewing them all and deleting about 500) WITHOUT having to change the 2 AA batteries. Note that I didn't use the flash underwater, but still, this was impressive battery performance. Overall, I'm glad I didn't spend $200 on a much better housing (e.g., for my digital SLR). This $20 housing with my $100 camera did what I needed...take decent fish pictures. I'll try to post some pictures.

Better than nothing,

This is the only underwater housing I could find for a Canon A560. It did keep the camera safe and dry, so I was able to get pictures (snorkeling) that I couldn't have gotten otherwise. It was not, however, an ideal solution. It didn't fit that well, so many pictures were ruined with a black vignetting from the plastic tube that surrounds the lens. Also, I was not able to use the on-camera flash because the same tube obstructed the light.

When i used this for my snorkeling trips in the Caribbean, I would put my camera inside before I left for the snorkeling trip. This was done so that I didn't have to fight with the waterproof case while I was out on th boat. The problem arose once I was using it underwater, and I wanted to use it above water, I ended up with water spots on the lens and in the pictures. Not that big of a concern though. Overall, it worked exactly like I wanted it to. My Canon was used underwater unscathed. Also, the tether works great to make sure the camera doesn't get away from you while swimming around.
