Book Description

9 and up
Kids learn how to make a few easy folds, and with just a little help from scissors, a crayon or felt tip pen, and a glue stick, they can turn a sheet of paper into a sensational sea creature. Co-authors Steve and Megumi Biddle demonstrate how to create a watery kingdom of diving dolphins, spouting whales, colorful coral, cantankerous crabs, tropical fish, and a diver--complete with flippers, mask, and air tank. Eighteen fun-to-do projects are presented, one per page, in the form of easy-to-follow step-by-step diagrams. The surprising results take form as paper sea creatures. Each is shown in full color so kids can compare the book's model with their own effort. Here's pure fun, from first page to last.

5.0 out of 5 stars Underwater Origami, January 13, 2009
This review is from: Underwater Origami: Underwater Paper Folding for Kids (Paperback)
Nice book. I also bought "Origami Adventures: Animals" and "Origami Adventures: Dinosaurs". I am happy with all three, though I kind of like the "Dinosaurs" and "Animals" a little better. They were the same price, but came as hardback books and were spiral bound. They also came with papers that were specifically for each creature being created (with "skin" or "fur" patterns, eyes, etc). Underwater Origami is paperback and comes with solid color papers with no designs, so it is not quite as creative as the "Animals" and "Dinosaurs", but I would still recommend it and I am still very happy I bought. If looking to buy more than one book, I would recommend getting all three. Underwater Origami has nice pictures and is colorful and makes a nice gift.

I use a lot of resources and books in my origami "work" and this one has become one of my favorites. Presented well, colorful, intriquing for kids & adults, easy to follow, and the paper included is a real bonus. It is no suprise that the book is by Steve and Megumi Biddle, another name you can trust for good origami books. Well worth the money and time. I continue to fold and find new ways to present and use this book & origami models from the book!

This was a gift for an 8 year old. He loved it and the book has origami paper included in the back of the book so he was all set to go. The animals go from easy to complex. A great buy and a great hit!
