4.0 out of 5 stars It's Fontastic!, May 15, 2000
This review is from: Underworld Videos 1993-97, Footwear Repairs by Craftsmen at Competitive Prices [VHS] (VHS Tape)
In case you're wondering whether this is the right video (as I was), yes, this is the collection of Underworld videos fully titled "Underworld Videos 1993-97: Footwear Repairs By Craftsmen At Competitive Prices."

"Footwear" proves to be a representative sampling of Underworld's work, providing over an hour of material that works great as a mood enhancer: pop these videos in and use 'em to create an atmosphere mirroring pretty well what you've been listening to for the last few years.

Underworld (and Tomato, their artistic collective) sew animation and lyrics into their videos: the lyrics flit by in the form of flurries of varying fonts in a style reminiscent of the artwork on the sleeve of the group's 1994 album dubnobasswithmyhead.

The boys make some brief appearances (you see flashes of them live in the "Pearl's Girl" video) with Karl showing up the longest in the "Born Slippy" video, banging his head along to the tune, wearing headphones, a blazingly bright yellow shirt, and, um, a tall fluffy, furry white hat.

Overall, "Footwear" provides a fun, fitting and fairly consistent retrospective to Underworld's work; the "Moaner" video with its extreme closeups and simple bold colors strays the most stylistically from the rest of the videos.

I only wish they'd waited until Beaucoup Fish to create this collection, so we'd get those videos, too. If you haven't seen them, the new videos stray completely from the methods set out herein, with "Jumbo" and "Push Upstairs" proving to be especially beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have video for any Underworld fan!, November 21, 1998
This review is from: Underworld Videos 1993-97, Footwear Repairs by Craftsmen at Competitive Prices [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Random art and graphics flash repetitively to the beat of awesome Underworld songs, mostly extended remixes. Images of the band members are very limited and obscure. Turn off the lights and experience the ultimate Underworld rave party in your own living room!

5.0 out of 5 stars this is art., May 5, 2000
This review is from: Underworld Videos 1993-97, Footwear Repairs by Craftsmen at Competitive Prices [VHS] (VHS Tape)
please don't call it rave. please, please don't call it rave. this is art. this is the most wonderful art around. don't believe me? take a look. "oich oich" and "most ospitible", neither housing a bass drum, are laiden with entrancing visuals. this is a chill out video like which nothing else exists.
