Editorial Reviews

Product Description

"Underworld" and its accompanying soundtrack albums are perhaps the most thoughtful, valued and respected genre film soundtracks in the proud tradition of "The Matrix" and "The Crow."
As "Underworld: Evolution" continues the saga of the story, so does the new Soundtrack Album continue the tone set musically. On this new album is the exclusive debut solo recording from Chester Bennington, and a new exclusive recording by Puscifer. Chester Bennington is best known as the lead singer of iconic rock band Linkin Park. Likewise Pusicfer who contributed to the first "Underworld" album, is a new outlet for the highly respected, and commercially successful music genius Maynard James Keenan. Maynard is best known as the frontman of both Tool and A Perfect Circle. Also a contributing member of Puscifer is Danny Lohner, the famed former Nine Inch Nails guitarist who is also a sought out songwriter, producer and remixer.
Every song on the album is exclusive to this set at the time of release. In addition to those above are exclusive contributions from such varied and respected artists as My Chemical Romance, Slipknot, Meat Beat Manifesto, Cradle Of Filth as well as some the most exciting new emerging and critically acclaimed bands such as Atreyu, Hawthorn Heights, Senses Fail, Alkaline Trio, Aiden, Lacuna Coil, Trivium and more.
Many of these tracks proudly feature exclusive remixes by some of the most respected and sought after talents such as Danny Lohner, Chris Vrenna, cEvin Key and The Legion Of Doom. Both Danny Lohner and Chris Vrenna bring unique musical experience and sensibilities as former members of seminal rock band Nine Inch Nails. cEvin Key is the co-founder of Skinny Puppy and an established artist in his own right, remixing various artists of stature and releasing many solo albums under different titles. Jack Dangers new exclusive Meat Beat Manifesto song features the artists first use of vocal performance in over six years, which is a rare treat indeed for fans

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this if you like a mix between metal, rock, and goth/industrial, January 15, 2006
By C. Lee (California USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Actually I rate this a 4.5, but no choices for half stars. Anyways, this is an overall nice cd with some pretty good melodies/riffs/singing that I love to listen to again and again. I really like about half the songs, but the other half are pretty mediocre (they kinda sound the same to me). My absolute favos are Lacuna Coil's Our Truth (one of the main reasons I bought this cd), Chester Bennington's Morning After, Slipknot's Vermillion pt.2, and Atreyu's Her Portrait in Black. My least favo is Mendozza's Eternal Battle. And I prefer MCR's original version of To the End to this remixed version. I think this soundtrack is as good and maybe even better than the first Underworld soundtrack.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ample ass kicked on UNDERWORLD 2 Soundtrack!!, January 13, 2006
By Tone Capone (El Lay, CA) - See all my reviews
Man, I thought they couldn't top themselves after the killer soundtrack to the first Underworld a couple years ago. But, daymn, did they pull it off again!

The premiere solo track from Linkin's Chester, first new Maynard track in 2 years, My Chemical Romance remix by Danny from Nine Inch Nails and Wes from Limp...the list just goes on and on! In fact, every song I hear is exclusive to this record. Kudos to the producers and all the artists that stepped up and recorded some of their best 'ish for Underworld:evolution!

3.0 out of 5 stars metal and horror have always gone together, January 10, 2006
By goathorns "Goathorns" (broadcasting from the heart of idoit America) - See all my reviews
The previous reviewer seems to have missed the fact that metal and horror have long gone together. If this person knew anything about the history of metal, they would realize that the themes covered in this movie are the same as those handled by many heavy metal acts. True, a lot of this record is commercial; however, to claim that a band like Cradle of Filth is talentless only highlights this reviewers lack of understanding off heavy music. COF plays extremely complex music that draws from a wide range of musical genres. Also, they are extremely gothic in nature and deal with themes that are commonly explored in horror movies. In fact, they are far more gothic than anything that has come out of Hollywood in decades. Furthermore, the song is a cover of a Misfits song, and you certainly cannot claim that the Misfits have no connection to horror.

Perhaps, the reviewer needs to realize that not all fans of heavy metal are 15. There are a lot of us who have been into the music for decades and are very knowledgable about it. True, some of the artists on this cd will appeal to the kids; however, the movies primary audience (even though it is R rated will likely be young).

Horror and Heavy Metal have been married for decades. Since they are two of my great loves in this life, I couldn't be happier about this.

The cd is decent. The COF and Lacuna Coil songs stand out the most.
