If one will take the time to read the complete book (700 pages!)
_Underworld_ is written in the comfortable travelogue / mystery style of _The Sign and the Seal_ and is very readable, very easy to follow.
I have no objection to being carried along on a mission of discovery and learning about these things and the whole idea of narrative.
