Undisputed Attitude,

This review is from: Undisputed Attitude (Audio CD)
Slayer-Undisputed Attitude ***It's far from being one of their best or strongest albums. In fact it is somewhere near the bottom of the list. Even for a cover album this seems weak. It is loud, and fast, and powerful yes but many of the tracks sound like noise. As a massive fan of punk, and hardcore I was excited when I heard about this one. I was dissapointed needles to say. Araya is out of control here and it doesn't seem like he is really into the songs, whats more is you can't understand a single thing he says during most of the tracks. All is not lost though. The Minor Threat cover 'Guilty Of Being White' is fantastic as is the reworking of The Stooges 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' which they change to 'I Wanna Be Your God' is true Slayer fashion. Also the single original track on the album 'Gemini' is a rare classic in the bands cannon. Not the best or most satisfying Slayer album out there but for true fans it will be a treat.

don't be so elite,

first off if you hate punk you'll probably hate this but you should consider that thrash metal is a conglomeration of classic metal riffs and lyrical themes with punk rock attitude and speed (isn't Ac/Dc punk rock with guitar solos?). when taken in that context you might better understand where slayer comes from. or maybe it's not metal enough for you...whatever. It's better than anything Metallica has done in the last 17 years so....MEH!

I, too, used to dislike true hardecore punk, but with the help of this album and some others, I now really dig some of this stuff. The covers of some Minor Threat tunes on here, especially "Filler/I Don't Want to Hear it" are incredible.Dissent seems to be the overwhelming overtone throughout much of the album and that's what Slayer is all about. This is nothing short of what I'd expect from them and is undoubtedly one of the best cover albums ever released.

An Intense Blast of Anger and Raw Energy,
By
This review is from: Undisputed Attitude (Audio CD)
From the moment this CD beings with "DISINTEGRATE YOU BASTARD!!!" you know you're in for a rush. Undisputed Attitude a short but intense collection of punk songs covered by Slayer, a band that has always been heavily influenced by punk bands just like these. All the speed and anti-establishment sentiment of a punk album is here along with the precision guitar work Slayer always brings. If you like raw, angry music, you can't go wrong with this one.

I love this album! It's not the usual Slayer sound that i love, but is a Slayer hardcore side that i also enjoy. I don't known the bands Slayer are covering, but the Slayer versions for their songs are amazing. The album goes really fast, and i like this Slayer trip in the hardcore world

This is an amazing album. I like Slayer in most of their albums. This album is totally different then their other but i dont care about this fact. The adrenaline is so high in this album (you have to hear it). They play punk songs but they are soooooooooooooo good that you will love them. If you have an open mind you will sure like them. They have amazing tracks like Free money - I hate you - Sick boy - Mr freeze - violent pacification - Richard hung himself - im gonna be your god - and one of their most heavy and best songs ever -> Gemini (really good track). Just buy this album.

Fastest Record Ever,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Undisputed Attitude (Audio CD)
I just bought this item a few days ago. When I listened to it, it was crazy. This has got to be the fastest record I have ever heard, and that is saying alot.It is a record of Punk Song covers that Slayer said "Made Slayer what it is today" quoted by Kerry King i think,Slayer wrote only three songs on this record. Any Slayer fan would love this for it's sheer power. I wasn't to crazy about the track "Gemini" but deffenatly love "Disintegration/Free Money" and "Verbal Abuse/Leeches".

Slayer at thier best.,

This is my favorite slayer release, and those are big words considering their catalog. It consists entirely of covers and a couple of tunes that were side projects of Jeff Hanneman.

Good Concept...,
This review is from: Undisputed Attitude (Audio CD)
You would assume Slayer covering punk tunes would really be a logical idea even if you aren't into punk. It just simply ends up not being good. The one original song on here "Gemini" gives you a good indication of what direction their next couple albums was gonna take. I gave two stars, one for "Gemini" and one for a good idea poorly executed.

while metallica continues to perfect mediocrity in their efforts to become richer than dethklok, slayer have never compromised the spirit that so invigorated amerikan metal back in the day when 'reign in blood', 'kill 'em all', & 'bonded by blood' (yeah ok, and 'fistful of metal') seduced our virgin ears with an intoxicating energy that was sorely lacking in metal then...a lesson learned - albeit a bit late - from the other clan of miscreants : punksthe spirit of smashing the grip of authority - be it political or spiritual - fit hand in bloody glove with the path that slayer was already on; and while honoring your heroes/influences with a tribute album wasn't new even then, UA remains one of the best xamples of how it's done. the results become almost originals as the choices are filtered through the rabid beast that has always been slayer however, stopping with this album would do a huge disservice to the bands - and their compatriots - who inspired this singular effort. i know most amerikans are historically challenged, but this is easily within the memory of most of our father's spent dna so there is no xcuse for not rediscovering the tattered blueprint that helped shape modern metal's sordid affair with dissident energy |
