5.0 out of 5 stars Chris Jericho: Still The Best in the World At What He Does
After reading Jericho's first book, I was so thrilled to read "Undisputed" to see what insight and wit we would get from Y2J. I got the book just a few days ago and I couldn't be more pleased with the material in the book. It was such an easy read. I found myself blowing through the chapters. 3.0 out of 5 stars not as good as lions tale
To begin, Chris Jericho is a fantastic storyteller. i found his descriptions of his life with fozzy to be drawn out and boring. I understand that it was an important part of his career i just didnt need to read dozens of pages about fozzy in such intricate details. however when he writes about eddy guerrero and especially chris benoit i feel his pain. he clearly had to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Chris Jericho: Still The Best in the World At What He Does, February 10, 2011

After reading Jericho's first book, I was so thrilled to read "Undisputed" to see what insight and wit we would get from Y2J. I got the book just a few days ago and I couldn't be more pleased with the material in the book. It was such an easy read. I found myself blowing through the chapters. His insight into his WWE debut, bumpy road in 1999, relationship with Vince McMahon, and many colorful insights to other wrestlers, makes this book one of the greatest wrestling books I have ever read. Right up there with "Hitman" by Bret Hart and "Have a Nice Day" by Mick Foley. Chris Jericho has had a legendary career and it's only fitting that he has two legendary books (and a great DVD now) to go along with it. I recommend this book to anyone who loves wrestling, the WWE, Chris Jericho, reading, or all of the above. I sense he might think about a third book. When and if he does, I will be ready to read what the "Savior of the WWE" has to say again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still undefeated against Foley, February 17, 2011

It was fitting that Mick Foley wrote the foreword to Chris Jericho's memoir, UNDISPUTED, and passed the torch to Jericho as the new champion of wrestling books. Jericho uses the formula that made Foley's books so successful, creating a personal connection with his readers with his openness and wit, and in the process does it even better than the long-reigning king of wrestling authors.

Unlike his autobiography A LION'S TALE, Jericho's new book UNDISPUTED is a memoir, chronicling his journey through WWE as he becomes one of the biggest stars in the wrestling business while he battles to be taken seriously as a musician and actor. The book is an intriguing look inside all three forms of entertainment and shows how his success in one venue often serves as a hindrance in the others. His metal band, Fozzy, struggles to break away from its reputation of a gimmick act and becomes a legitimate band that headlines sold-out events in some places and flops in others. HIs acting career seems doomed before it starts, as the black cloud of wrestling superstardom lurks over his head while he tries to catch a break as a "real" actor.

UNDISPUTED is entertaining cover-to-cover and, although I expected to skim over his adventures in music and Hollywood, those tales prove to be every bit as captivating as the wrestling. But there is plenty of wrestling in UNDISPUTED, offering readers an peek behind the curtain from his highly anticipated and disappointing start in WWE to his reign as the first-ever Undisputed Heavyweight Champion then back into mid-card purgatory. He details the political forces that worked against him, his backstage fight with the feared Goldberg, the heartbreaking loss of his close friend Eddie Guerrero, and the senseless Benoit family tragedy.

A LION'S TALE came close to unseating Foley's HAVE A NICE DAY as the greatest wrestling book of all time; I'd call it a draw. UNDISPUTED surpasses them both and now reigns as the new king of the wrestling genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chris Jericho: The Best In The World Today, February 6, 2011

After Reading Chris's other book: A Lions Tale: Around The World In Spandex. I was so excited to find out he was getting a second book and I pre-ordered it through Amazon and received it two days ago and just finished the book. Chris gives a strong insight on the Wrestling Business from his time with the WWE up till his re-debut in 2007. He gives strong insight on the Chris Benoit tragedy, his relationship with Vince McMahon, and the progession of Fozzy from a cover band to an original band. In addition, Chris talks about his family and the marriage of his wife and has some great amazing stories. Overall it is an amazing read and is a great read for anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still a Good Read, October 4, 2011

Chris Jericho's second book is a good read. I remember much of what Jericho writes about when it comes to his wrestling career. The inside look on what all happened is indeed an interesting sight. It seemed like the timeline of the book jumped around a bit more than the first book, and there was a lot more on his musical career in this one, too. If you're wanting to continue along Jericho's journey since the end of his first book, and his first run in the WWE, then this is your book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jericho Creates a Truly FROOT Read, February 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Undisputed: How to Become the World Champion in 1,372 Easy Steps (Hardcover)
In the WWE The Miz may be 'Awesome,' but throughout the wrestling world, only one man can be froot, the great Chris Jericho.

Jericho's second book shares his time within the WWE, formerly the WWF, from his times as a headliner and FIRST EVER UNDISPUTED HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, to his lack of direction wrestling characters such as Chyna. Jericho pulls no punches on his time dealing with WWE politics, and the backstage opinions of his work from road agents to Vince McMahon himself.

The beauty of this book is once you reacquaint yourself to Jericho's writing style, you truly feel that he is next to you at the bar sharing his story. The author's note at the conclusion of the book mentions that the words are all Jericho's and I couldn't agree more.

During his time in and out of wrestling, Jericho became a rock star and actor, the stories from the road and his child-like demeanor to his idols are endearing of a truly down to earth individual. This truly is the second part of Chris' career, from the highs to lows, everything is covered, including his reactions to the death of his two best friend: Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit.

Once you finish the book, you might even be inclined to start using the term 'froot' that's the impact of Jericho's story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the Best Wrestling Book in the World, February 12, 2011

I say this is not the best wrestling book for two reasons. One, I think Mick Foley's is still the top, and two, the book, like the man, is not simply about wrestling. Because this book only covers roughly nine years of his life, he expands upon other parts of his life. I have to say I have very little interest in metal music nowadays, but he did a good job keeping me interested in those sections.

The best parts of the book are when we are to see past the jokes (like Foley, he has a tendency to push a joke past its humorous point, mostly those about Foley) to the heart (I know that's a cliche, but there it is). When he is talking about his failures in the ring and in the locker room, when he is talking about his mother, Eddie Guerrero, and Chris Benoit...those sections are some of the finest writing I've seen in a "wrestling" book. Additionally, this would not be a bad book to give to somebody who has to work somewhere that is politically charged, as Jericho often humorously shows us what to do (and more not what to do) in such situations. Great read. I received this book yesterday around ten in the morning and had finished it by late afternoon.

Chris Jericho has such a great sense of humor; and after a few nights of reading Undisputed, I finally decided that it was worth the time to post a review for it. I have written very few reviews in my life; as i won't bother commenting on something that i only feel slightly positive or negative about. Buy the book, this guy is one of my heroes, and an inspiration.

3.0 out of 5 stars not as good as lions tale, January 23, 2012
To begin, Chris Jericho is a fantastic storyteller. i found his descriptions of his life with fozzy to be drawn out and boring. I understand that it was an important part of his career i just didnt need to read dozens of pages about fozzy in such intricate details. however when he writes about eddy guerrero and especially chris benoit i feel his pain. he clearly had to get this off his chest and in my opinion this segment was the best of the book. the rest was just so-so.

This review is from: Undisputed: How to Become the World Champion in 1,372 Easy Steps (Hardcover)
Jericho is such a lousy writer! I really coundn't get over it! He spends half the book complaing about how much his band sucked, but just kept on writing about. Unreal this book is even in print!

4.0 out of 5 stars Jericho rocks, January 15, 2012
This is one of the best WWE related books I've ever read. And I knew in reading it that Jericho would return. Guess what? I was right! Chris is the man and I thoroughly enjoy this. Another must read!
