Book Description

[Siren Classic: Erotic Historical Romance, HEA] Self-serving libertine Jeremy Greymont likes his sex on the rough side and his women anonymous. Perfectly content milling along through life on an existence of courtesans and fine Scotch whisky, Jeremy has a naughty past and his own demons to contend with, but he's run out of time with his grandfather regardless. Jeremy needs an heir—posthaste. The lovely Georgina seems like the perfect answer to his predicament and intrigues him like no woman ever before. Jeremy can’t wait to get started on the baby-making and is even willing to tone down his preference for the wild romps he’s always enjoyed. There’s always time to teach her about that later, right? But Georgina's demons trump Jeremy's in so many ways. A brutal assault has left her damaged and vowing she can be wife to no man—not even Jeremy Greymont. What is a libertine to do? ** A Siren Erotic Romance

Editorial Reviews

Review

I absolutely love this story and if you have read historical romances before or even the classics like Jane Eyre or Sense & Sensibility (although these are F-A-R less risque; Miller's leading men have filthy minds), I know you'll love this book.  The Book Bar Co.  Top Shelf rating.

About the Author

A New York Times bestselling author who has been reading romance novels since she picked up that first Barbara Cartland book at the tender age of thirteen. And it's a safe bet she'll never stop, because now she writes them too. Granted, Raine's stories are edgy enough to turn Ms. Cartland in her grave, but to her way of thinking a hot, sexy hero never goes out of fashion. Ever! Writing books pretty much fills her days now and she's always busy. Raine has a prince of a husband, and two brilliant sons to pull her back into the real world if the writing takes her too far away. She loves to hear from readers and to chat about the characters in her books. You can connect with her on Facebook or visit her blog at www.RaineMiller.com to find out what she's working on now.

Raine Miller has written a highly passionate tale about married love that does not bore or gets entangled in unnecessary miscommunication. It is a story about trust and love that goes beyond the superficial.

Jeremy Graymont is looking to marry. He has lead a sensuous life and feels a little jaded and just a little bored even though he has had a wide variety of life experiences. He visits his friend's country estate and meets his destiny.

Georgina remembers Jeremy from her brother's school visits and she likes him instantly, he is kind and thoughtful. Georgina basks in his presence; he is a welcome escape from the loathsome man her father plans for her to marry. Jeremy rescues her from this man's unwanted advances time and again. In fact, Jeremy becomes so protective and caring he marries Georgina even knowing her secret heartache.

Ms. Miller does an excellent job of detailing both points of views of these characters. Georgina is frightened but brave and she is also vulnerable. Her emotional wounds are considerable yet she allows herself the chance to heal. Jeremy is so trustworthy that Georgina cannot help but lower her defenses.

Jeremy is a little on the rough side yet he curbs his own desires to for Georgina's sake. Together this couple teaches the other about forgiveness, self acceptance and mostly the healing balm of unconditional love. It is a story that is moving and this couple simply adores each other and is ardently in love.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you love romance novels you must read this one! July 18, 2012
By Renee
Format:Paperback
The Undoing of a Libertine by Raine Miller is an amazing love story set in 19th century England. The story of Jeremy and Georgina grabbed me from the very first page and kept me in its seductive hold through all the trials and tribulations of their 'courtship'. The characters are strong throughout the story and I loved watching them grow from page to page.

The sex scenes, yes there are alot of them, but this is an 'erotic romance novel', and are very compelling but tastefully written and had my heart melting on more than one occasion.

There is also some mystery and intrigue throughout the story and I thoroughly enjoyed the surprises. I also enjoyed the ending, though somewhat predictable (again, it is a romance novel) but there were a couple of surprises there too.

I loved this book and am looking forward to reading more of Raine Miller's work. If you love romance novels, this is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT! October 17, 2013
By Brandi
Format:Kindle Edition
The story was so very beautiful and passionate. One might ask, "how can a book full of scorching hot sex be beautiful?" Well it is, in fact, quite beautiful. Raine Miller is simply amazing. She has a unique way with words and is, by far, one of the most talented and distinguished writers I know. Her ability to entice us with kinky f#%£ery (sorry that's the only word coming to mind) while grabbing hold of our mind, heart and soul is beyond brilliant. Raine displays indispensable elements desired by avid readers; love, lust, unyielding characters and thought provoking prose amplified with a beautifully crafted romance.

There are many moments in this book I will never forget. I became genuinely invested in the lives of Jeremy and Georgina, as I have with every character written by Mrs. Miller. The writing was unblemished with wonderful intrigue, history and blistering passion!

History? Yes, history. Now don't go thinking this is something to be read based on a recommendation by your 80-year-old librarian who has never read an eBook or thinks a Nook is the area in her kitchen where she indulges on prune juice and toast. On the contrary, this book will send you seeking revenge on whomever borrowed your Kindle charger when "LOW BATTERY" illuminates and you believe, without a doubt, that you must continue reading the sweet words of the sexy-as-sin Mr. Jeremy Greymont or you shall die a thousands deaths. Yes, it's that kind of book.

I am one who firmly believes "it is the small things that matter most." This story, along with everything "Raine Miller", is composed of countless indelible moments manifested by vivid imagery and detail. The writing style is crisp and eloquent. Raine is that author - the one that no matter what she publishes I will read.

5 STARS!

5.0 out of 5 stars My second time reading "Undoing", I gotta review! January 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This has to be one of my favorite historical romances. It was just so good until during my winter break, looking for something to read, a big smile came upon my face as I spotted "Libertine" in my kindle library. Honestly, it was better the second time around, I read every word, the first time my schoolwork distracted me.

Jeremy was such a naughty boy, but with a tender heart. Even dealing with his "paid companions", he was just a doll. He was written so naturally and his personality modern, he even cussed like it was 2013. I also thought he was funny, some of the things he said and have mercy, the things he thought! I loved him and Gina. He was a man before his time, that is for sure, and he loved his woman, no mistaking that fact.

The villians were so gross, it was so easy to hate them right along with the main characters.

Want a good romance with lovable H/h and a great plot? This is the book for you. I will probably read it again in a few months. What can I say, I love Jeremy...

More about Raine Miller

Q. What inspires your writing?
A. So many things. Art, a photograph, a portrait, poetry, movies, songs, books, historical events, notable people, a friend, a colleague...and the list is never-ending.

Q. Why do you like to write historicals?
A. I guess mostly because of the nostalgia of the past. It is an escape for me to think in a world where communication existed only in real face-to-face time or in a letter. Social graces were not only an art, but a survival skill. Interaction with another person was downright intimate in a way it can never be today. I also find great joy in writing my stories. It is as entertaining to write them as it is to be lost in a book you can't set down.

Q. What is your favorite quote?
A. "I almost wish we were butterflies, and liv'd but three summer days. Three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain." JOHN KEATS...1819 (sigh) Need I elaborate?

Q. How do you plot out your stories?
A. I picture the scenes like a movie in my mind. I go on long walks with my ipod and just process through storylines in my head. As soon as I get home I run up to my computer and jot down my ideas so I don't forget. I've worked through many a troublesome plotline while on a walk. Solitude works for me.

Q. Who are some of your favorite authors?
A. JR Ward, Megan Hart, Elizabeth Hoyt, Ken Follett, John Grisham, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, John Keats, Robert Herrick...What I wouldn't give to have all of those writers together in a room.

Q. What has becoming a writer taught you?
A. A healthy respect. That's: R - E - S - P - E - C - T! I am humbled by anyone who wrote before the word processor and Google were invented. There's no denying that writing is hard work, but to imagine how Jane Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice with a feather quill pen makes my brain hurt.

Q. Any pearls of wisdom for aspiring writers?
A. Write what you love--your voice will come through. Write every day--your creative mind needs exercise. Never give up your dream of becoming a writer. Everyone loves a good story and if you can write one, people will always want to read it.
