About the Author

Richard Crawford has been a resident of Clermont County Ohio since March 18, 1955. Today he is recognized as the leading authority on the history of Clermont County.

"Thunder Before the Dawn" is his second solo book writing effort. His first work was "Thunder in the Valley". Published in 1984, it was the story of the 18 hours General John Hunt Morgan and his Confederate Cavalry invaded Clermont County Ohio during the War Between the States. He has also helped write many other works including the history of his hometown of Amelia and the history of the village of Owensville and contributed to many other historical works about Clermont County.

"Lightning Across the River and US Grant: Clermont County's Most Noted Son" is Crawford's first work since his critically acclaimed "Thunder Before the Dawn".

"Uneasy Spirits" continues his chronicle of the county, following his critically acclaimed "Thunder Before the Dawn" and "Lightning Across the River & U.S. Grant: Clermont County's Most Noted Son."

"Uneasy Spirits" contains 13 stories of hauntings and paranormal activity in Clermont County, some never before recorded.

Crawford began writing at 13-years old in 1964 as a sportswriter for the "Clermont Courier". He began writing historical features for the "Courier" in 1975.

Crawford has received many awards for his writing. He earned Journalist of the Year honors with Cincinnati Suburban Press, United Methodist Church West Ohio Conference Historian of the Year and was a member of the first induction class into the Clermont County Sports Hall of Fame.

The youngest of nine sons of Theodore L. and Catherine Crawford and 14th of the 15 children, today he gives tours and lectures throughout Clermont County and the surrounding area.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good book for ghost story lovers!, August 3, 1999

This book is very interesting and well written. It has pictures which is a good plus. The thing that makes this a good, spooky book is that the stories are local. They are stories that could be similiar right in your own home town. What also makes it a good book is that it was written by someone who lives in the area where the stories take place and he is also the county historian, so the stories come pretty much straight from the source. This is a great book I very much reccomend it.
