A picture's worth a thousand words. Von Wuthenau's work in this book as well as "Terracotta Pottery in pre -Columbian Central and South America" are the living embodiment of this expression. A must see for people visually acute. If your interest is in Olmec history,"Central and South America" is the ticket. These two works, confirmed my belief... we are all one people (Humanity).

Oh! if only there were more books as comprehensive and concise as this one! For a long time, archaeologists have treated the histories of indigenous peoples as allegory and myth. Now, the archaeological community is finally accepting that MAYBE some vikings made it to the new world about 1000 years ago. The buck does not stop there, however. Many peoples (such as the Maya) keep long histories about North and South America and the plethora of races which have lived and visited here. This book is packed with photos of busts, lintels, and statues from ancient America. The catch is that all of these photos are not of red people! The author should be commended on his organization of this information. The reader is left with a book that speaks for itself and an archaeological argument that is air-tight. A must have for those interested in the history of N and S America and those interested in the mysteries that still lie beneath the soil.

I thought I knew America's history but this book had a lot I had missed. It is amazing that, given the diagram of the ocean's current, how anyone could mistake an European presence for an African one. The only possible currents between Europe and America are on the other side - the Pacific side.
