Book Description

August 15, 2002

Why do some women become lesbians in their twenties, thirties, or even in their sixties? After interviewing close to a hundred women for an academic project, Dr Tamsin Wilton realised their extraordinary stories should be shared with the real world. Here, she brings together the most moving and fascinating of her interviews, and lively essays on the conclusions from her study. Dr Tamsin Wilton is a senior academic at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Previous books include: Lesbian Studies: Setting an agenda and Good for You: A handbook on lesbian health and well-being.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but maybe better from a British perspective, July 16, 2006

This review is from: Unexpected Pleasures: Leaving heterosexuality for a lesbian life (Paperback)
As an American, I may have missed some of the book's finer points due to possibly not "getting" the social and political realities for lesbians in Great Britain. It does, however, cover the range of emotions in being a latebloomer and has numerous stories depicting different situations. I would think this would be a very good read for a British latebloomer; the tone is very, very British.
