The PLC commercial quality umbrella stands are unweighted, and available in five colors. Fully weighted with sand, these stands offer up to 95 lbs. of heavy holding force for any size umbrella. Chrome finished cap will accommodate umbrella poles from 1 ½" diameter to 2" diameter. Each stand features a locking screw-on cap to hold the sand weight inside its durable molded resin body. This feature enables consumers to purchase sand for weighting at their local home stores and easily fill the stand with sand themselves to reduce shipping costs. This is a great idea--in theory. However, the pole receptor that attaches to the base is not done so in a secure manner. It wiggles and seems a bit unsteady. Too, the base, even when full of sand, is not heavy enough to securely hold a nine foot umbrella. Again--part of the problem is the manner in which the pole receptor fits into the compartment that holds the sand. I suspect that had this unit been manufactured as a single piece rather than two elements attached together, the problems I encountered with this product would be greatly minimized.

this umbrella stand is good not great. the price and quality is great, the task of placeing sand inside it is not..w/out a funnel this would be impossible. the opening is approx 2" so it is a bit tedious.
