heated contemporary romance,
This review is from: Unfinished Business (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
In Cancun, writer Melissa Sanders wakes up with a hangover and a stranger sharing her bed. To make matter worse, she has a ring on her finger. Melissa realizes that too many rum mocambo cocktails pickled her brain, but she also knows that Antonio Bond's lovemaking was simply heaven though she has nothing else to compare him with. Still, marriage to a stranger is too much for her to mentally accept so she cowardly flees for home. Two years later, Melissa authors a book based on the most delightful (alas only) sexual encounter of her life and some her imagination has cooked up that she claims she shared with her "husband"; she dedicated her book to his lovemaking. However, while on tour Tony arrives to teach her a few more tricks because when he proposed he meant it because for him it was in love at first sight and he has not forgotten the most heavenly night of his life. As he planned when he married her in Cancun, he intends to spend the rest of his life dedicated to exploring her body starting with joining her (in every connotation) on her tour. Though Tony insisting on marriage at first sight seems a bit difficult to accept, fans of heated contemporary romance tales starring a pragmatic female with a starry-eyed male (nice gender bender for a change) will appreciate UNFINISHED BUSINESS. The clash of opposites make for a fun time for readers as the male romantic tries to persuade the skeptical female that he meant his vows and plans to prove that every day for the rest of their lives. What happens in Cancun stays in Cancun... or doesn't it?,

Writer Melissa Sanders heads to Cancun for a fun filled vacation and after one too many potent cocktails gets more than she bargained for when she wakes up and married to a sexy stranger. The newly deflowered virgin panics and high tails it back to her life in the US. Two years later, she has written a sensual book highlighting the sexcapades with her "husband" Tony Bond. She even goes so far as to dedicate the book to him, and is shocked when he shows up on her book tour ready to resume their relationship. He takes his vows seriously after all.
Forster's sexy romance is nearly as funny as it is sensual. Despite appearing to be opposites, the duo actually has much more in common than they realize, and Forster does a great job conveying that in the scant 250 pages. It was adapted into a TV movie for Oxygen network called "Romancing the Bride" featuring "That 70's Show" regular Laura Prepon, but bears little resemblance to this sexy romantic comedy, which is one of Forster's better novels.

Writer Melissa Sanders never dreamed she'd wake up to find a handsome stranger beside her...and a ring on her finger! Blame it on the rum cocktails, but after one wild night in Cancún, she suddenly had a husband! In a panic, she took the first plane out of Mexico, vowing to put Tony Bond out of her mind...though she knew her body would never forget his touch.
Two years later, Melissa has written a sizzling book based on sexual tricks she's done with her "husband"...tricks she still longs to do. She even dedicated the book to him! But when Tony shows up for her book tour, ready to play the devoted spouse, she doesn't know whether to kill him -- or kiss him. Especially once Tony makes it clear the honeymoon isn't over...

I read through Suzanne Forster's Unfinished Business rather quickly. It's a light romance novel. The only reason I decided to read it was that I thought the movie Romancing the Bride, that was based on it, was cute. The book and the movie bear little resemblance other than the name of the main character and a quick wedding in Mexico.
In the book Melissa Sanders is a journalist that writes sex advice although she's only had one sexual encounter in her life. On a trip to Cancun with friends her friends dare her to have a fling. She counters that she won't until she's married. Her friends ask around and finally get one of the waiters to propose to Melissa. Melissa is drunk and agrees, and is whisked off to a quickie marriage and a night of unbelieveable sex. The next morning she regrest her impetuous actions and runs off without a word to her groom. The encounter lingers with her, so she writes a self-help book. The book is an instant success and her publisher wants her to do a book tour with her "husband." Her publist finds her abandoned husband and gets him to agree to pose as Melissa's husband in exchange for an anulment at the end of the tour. The rest goes on to detail their entanglements as the try to pose as a happily wedded couple. The book as a whole is standard fantasy romance fair. It seems to indicate that a handsome man and great sex is all that is needed for a successful marriage. I pity anyone that falls for that fantasy.

Not a fantastic book, but quick easy read for a $3 book. Has a plot that is easy to follow.
Lonely woman on a trip with girlfriends in Cancun. They all decide she needs to hook up and "marry a guy" for a night (or at least during the duration of her vacation) because she won't sleep with a guy unless she thinks he's marriage material. Meets a hot waiter and he whisks her off her feet and marries her in a quickie church wedding which she thinks her girlfriends orchestrated. He gives her a ring that she can't seem to take off and she has the best one night stand of her life. She does vile, nasty, unspeakable things with the man that she can't believe she's done. He makes her feel like a sexy, wanton woman. She wakes up the next morning, panics, and runs off to go back to the states. 2 years later, she writes a best-selling novel about how to keep a spark in your marriage as she re-lives her one night stand with "Tony". She even dedicates the book to him because she still can't get over the best sex in her life. It's an instant best seller, but she needs to do a book tour and it includes her "husband". She confesses to her editor her predicament that she doesn't even know where her "husband" is. Editor tracks down said husband and in exchange he gets an annulment. They play pretend husband and wife, pretending they don't exist, then throwing themselves at each other. Then pretending they don't exist, then playing like two unfixed dogs. Some drama (like he's not really a waiter, he just plays one because he's this rich restauranteur who pretends to be a waiter so he can see his patrons expressions when they taste his food), somewhat predictable, but at least it's different plot. Cute. Can finish this book in about 2-3 solid hours.

Fabulous!,
This review is from: Unfinished Business (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is what all romance novels should be.
It's funny and sexy at the same time. Everything in this book moves the story forward. Never got bored or wondered why something was included in the story. I fell for the hero quickly and wanted them together. Such sensuality! Forster did everything right in this book. If you love romance, read it. If you want to write romance, study this book. Every detail makes me feel like I'm there. |
