Book Description

January 2003

Cosmetic color celebrates and enhances a woman's natural beauty.

Color plays an extraordinary role in our lives. Colors a woman uses express her moods and highlight her natural beauty. Color in beauty is all about enhancing the way you feel as well as the way she looks. For example, those who wear red lipstick tend to smile more.

Unforgettable Color is divided into seven color chapters: red; orange and coral; yellow and gold; green and blue; purple and lilac; pink; and neutral. Each color chapter covers:

  • basic healthy and beauty advice
  • step-by-step applications and treatments
  • tips on using color on eyes, lips, face, and nails
  • analysis of how shades and palettes of a color can work with different skin tones and hair colors

Unforgettable Color includes seven fascinating profiles of vibrant woman of all ages -- mothers, musicians, artists, students -- who share personal stories of their lives and experiences as well as their beauty regime and makeup style. These women exemplify that beauty all depends on the personality and character of the woman herself.

Extra beauty tips throughout cover: special occasion and evening makeup, eyebrow shaping, skincare, mascara application, pedicures and more. Shopping Pages at the back of the book provide specific Revlon information for every product referred to in the color chapters.

Fun and practical, Unforgettable Color allows any woman to experiment with cosmetic color with confidence and flair.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good color advice, October 2, 2008
This review is from: Unforgettable Color: Revlon Makeup with Confidence (Paperback)
This has some good color advice (if you're a pale blonde, an olive-skinned brunette, etc., what shades of purple work best on you), etc., all the way through the rainbow, for just about every skin tone and hair color. There's a bit of color mythology/psychology, saying what each color represents (if you love red, you're this ... if you hate yellow, you're this ...). Each color chapter has a focus piece on a certain woman, and the ages are from around 20 to around 60, with beauty tips accompanying, along with some manicure and eyebrow-plucking hints, too. At the end there's a stronger focus on some Revlon looks from campaigns that were current at the time of publication, but some of those products might not be available so much anymore, since most of these lines shuffle out what's not selling and introduce new products (not to mention that just about everyone is introducing mineral makeup these days). But there is some good advice and it can easily be applied and it's nice that the women featured aren't perfect model-types, but rather are young and old and have freckles and some lines (but no one is overweight). At the beginning there are pictures a few old Revlon campaigns from the 1950s and 1960s which are kind of fun too. Not the best book out there, but it's pretty good.
