5.0 out of 5 stars The best slow song EVER!!!
It may not be as good as some heavy metallica songs, but as a ballad, it kicks! I can't get it out of my head (which is good) and it is much better than the unforgiven I which sucks majorly. However, Reload (the album which this comes from) doesn't have the quality of this song. Top Class!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Side 1 is fine, but Side 2 should EMBARRASS the band!
The Unforgiven II is a song much like the original, Unforgiven, as far as the chord-progressions and riffs. The instrumentation and vocal stylings give this second version a more "country" sound and is less haunting than the first. It isn't for the fan that just wants to hear Seek & Destroy 1,000 times in a row. If you can get over the fact that...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Unforgiven 2, July 9, 1998

This review is from: The Unforgiven II (Audio CD)
INFO: The American release of the Unforgiven 2 single.

Track 01: The Unforgiven 2 (6:36) (From the album ReLOAD)

Track 02: The Thing That Should Not Be (Live) (7:09) (Original version available on the album MASTER OF PUPPETS)

REVIEW: The Unforgiven 2 ballad will sound a bit strange if you are a fan of the original Unforgiven song, however it won't take long before you'll be singing the lyrics in a duet with James. This time a man in looking on his past and realizing that he was stubborn and did make a big mistake, asking for his girlfriend's love, knowing he doesn't deserve it, and that she 'is Unforgiven Too.' More like a reprise of the original Unforgiven, yet unique in it's own way, different than most 2-part songs released before.

First things first: the print on the actual CD identifies The Thing That Should Not Be (Live) as having a play time of 4:40. However, the actual play time is 7:09. With that said and done, the song is a must-have for anybody who enjoys a great heavy and mysterious song bordering on the edge of insanity leading up to a dramatic climax and a sudden ending. Not your typical low-quality live track.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good addition to a Metallica collection., July 5, 2000

I have always thought that The Unforgiven 2 pales in comparison to the original, and that is the main reason that I haven't given this the full 5 stars that the live tracks would be worth. The live tracks are all well performed, and being recorded in what is actually a nightclub here in the UK, you get the genuine impression of a really good and close atmosphere.b A good buy, but only if you like live tracks, otherwise this may be worth avoiding.

METALLICA'S Unfogiven 2 [CD-SINGLE] is worth the money! Both track's (Unfogiven 2, and The Thing That Should Not Be(Live)* are awsome in there own METALLICA kind of way! It's a good single to add to any METALLICA collection! No, Unforgiven 2 is not there best song, but with The Thing That Should Not Be(Live)*, it makes one great CD-SINGLE! 5.0 out of 5 stars An awesome single, a must buy, August 2, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Unforgiven II, Pt. 1 (Audio CD)
Track 1: Unforgiven II, not as good as Unforgiven but still very good. Track 2: Helpless (live), a cover of an old Diamond Head song, very rocky, better than original version. Track 3: The Four Horsemen (live), excellent version of one of their best songs Track 4: Of Wolf And Man (live) one of their best live songs

5.0 out of 5 stars COUNTRY? Are you insane?, December 15, 1999
This review is from: The Unforgiven II (Audio CD)
Okay, people, let's get one thing straight right now: Metallica is nowhere near country. It seems to be the new mantra for those wishing to bash the "new" Metallica, but only makes them look even more ignorant. A song is not made country by tossing in an acoustic guitar or slowing the tempo, contrary to the beliefs of many fools. As opposed to the bozos that keep harping on this supposed "country"ness of Metallica, I LISTEN to country as well as Metallica, and listened for years before I knew who Metallica was. I don't pretend to be an expert on Metallica, but I do know what's country, and trust me, they ain't it.

"Unforgiven II," continuing the story of "The Unforgiven" from the (in)famous "black album," is a terrific song. (I'll leave the arguing over whether it's "proper" Metallica to people who have more time on their hands than I do.) The storyline is Metallica-dark and the music complements it well. It's worth having if only to find out how "The Unforgiven" ends, but stands just as well on its own.

Country, though? Please. Either learn more about country music or find another epithet to hurl at the band.
