3.0 out of 5 stars Knowledge is Truth - Propaganda is Manipulation
I was impressed by the depth of Mr. Perryman's honesty in examining the historic and political truths of the democrats real relationship toward Blacks. Why democrats are credited with so many things to free and equalize the opportunities and freedoms of black people that were actually put forward by republicans, I will never fully understand.

Traditionally, Blacks have voted for the Democratic Party based on the assumption that it was the party that "looked out" for Blacks. While that may have been the truth at one time, it no longer exists and hasn't for many years. Mr. Perryman's book, Unfounded Loyalty, exposes, facts, figures, and incidences which prove that the Democratic Party has actually suppressed the Black race, and informs the reader of advantages gained via the Republican Party. This is done in an easy-to-read, nondogmatic style. I highly recommed this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unfounded Loyalty: The Book that sets it all straight, June 9, 2003

This review is from: Unfounded Loyalty: An In-Depth Look into the Love Affair Between Blacks and Democrats (Hardcover)
A book for the ages. There have been many people whom have stood up and pointed out misdeeds, injustices, and false representation. Sometimes these people face tremendous trial and trouble, especially when they probe deep into the fibers of the tightly woven fabric of such a lukerative and powerful institution as the Democratic Party. Mr. Perryman as an author takes a very unique approach at exposing very disturbing truths deeply hidden in the history of the Democratic Party. This thought provoking book is going to stir up a lot of controversy and trouble, and put Mr. Wayne Perryman in the hot seat. And rightfully so, how dare a man bring forth the notion that the Democratic Party has been anything but good to African American people? Truth is truth, Mr. Perryman's accurate research brings out the hard hitting facts. Read this book, get informed, and decide where your loyalty should be. In order to understand the tendencies of an institution, you must understand its origination. My eyes are further opened, this is a MUST READ for every person of all nationalities and political background. History and knowledge know no color or political party. Get to the truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, June 20, 2003

This review is from: Unfounded Loyalty: An In-Depth Look into the Love Affair Between Blacks and Democrats (Hardcover)
Wayne Perryman has written a great book full of facts not fiction. It has been done in a very scholarly manner and would make a great text book for a black history class. He looks at history through non-prejudiced eyes. This book is a must read for ALL AMERICANS. If you are honest and desire to know the truth you will find it in this book. Wayne looks back at what has happened for several decades to show the negative impact of the democratic party on the black people in our country. The freedom they have long sought for and think they have is not always what it seems to be. Wayne does not hold any punches, but in a very fair alalytical way tells the truth. I hope many are set free by reading this truth. I believe this is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most profound book I've read this year., July 22, 2004
This review is from: Unfounded Loyalty: An In-Depth Look into the Love Affair Between Blacks and Democrats (Hardcover)
This is a profound book, by Rev. Wayne Perryman. Rev. Perryman is black, religious and makes his living as an investigator in discrimination cases. He researched the period of 1832 to 2002 to answer a question posed to him by some black inner-city young people; "Why are most blacks in America Democrats?"
Among his findings:
- The Democrat Party was solidly pro-slavery prior to the Civil War, seeking to expand slavery to all of the States.
- The Republican Party was founded just prior to the Civil War and was anti-slavery.
- President Lincoln was the first Republican president. President Lincoln changed Vice Presidents for his second term, selecting Andrew Johnson, a pro-slavery Democrat, to broaden his base and appeal to borderline Democrats.
- After the end of the Civil War, Southern Democrats passed Black Codes in the South to suppress, restrict and deny blacks the same privileges that were available to whites.
- Republicans enacted the Freedman Bureau to assist the newly freed slaves.
- Upon being sworn in to replace the assassinated Lincoln, President Johnson stated: "This is a country for white men and long as I am president it will be a government for white men."
- The Ku Klux Klan was formed as the terrorist arm of the Democrat Party.
- Initially in the South after the Civil War, many blacks were Republicans, including many elected officials. The only black US Senator from the South was a Republican until Barbara Jordan, a Democrat, was elected from Texas in 1972.
- Federal troops were stationed in the South to protect blacks until removed by President Hayes in 1877, but they did not prevail against the terrorist acts of the Klan, which continued to intimidate blacks, causing many to not vote or to vote Democrat.
- The terror situation prevailed until well after 1900. In 1900, three white persons founded the NAACP to publicize and stop the lynchings. There were 94 known lynchings in 1900.
- Rich Republican whites funded and supported many of the black colleges, including Morehouse where Martin Luther King Jr. studied. Many southern Democrats opposed the colleges and tried to diminish their effectiveness.
- The many Civil Rights Acts of the 1960's and 70's were supported by more Republicans than Democrats, and in many cases passed over the objections of Southern Democrats.
A thread throughout the book is that in turning to the government for support rather than the traditional black church, the black community has lost a lot of its resiliency.
Finally, the author claims that the Democratic Party has never officially apologized for slavery or their terrorist war against black Americans.
The book is footnoted and provides many tables of relevant information.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learn about "The Rest of the Story", June 9, 2003
This review is from: Unfounded Loyalty: An In-Depth Look into the Love Affair Between Blacks and Democrats (Hardcover)
Unfounded Loyalty is an eye opening look at the facts of black history and role that religion, in particular Christianity, plays in it. I read this book over the course of several days and liked it so much that I bought a copy (28) for all of my graduating seniors at the high school at which I teach. Since it is a school that is 58% African American and 90% students of color over all, I felt it important to challenge their critical thinking skills. They must know the "why" behind what they do and make real choices. I also dedicated a class period to the discussion of several passages from this book. It is a must read for every African American in this country.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eye opener!, June 2, 2003
This review is from: Unfounded Loyalty: An In-Depth Look into the Love Affair Between Blacks and Democrats (Hardcover)
I met Mr. Perryman last year as he was writing this book and was fascinated by the concept of a former Democrat black leader researching the connection between Afrian-Americans and the Democrats. I didn't realize that in the end the facts---Congressional and Presidential records, would show nearly zero advancements made under Democratic leadership and all of the major milestones achieved by Republicans. From slavery to voting to civil rights, Democrats promised, Republicans delivered and Mr. Perryman chronicles it all, backing it up with facts.

Unfounded Loyalty: The Blind Love Affair Between African-Americans and the Democratic Party, is a hard-hitting exposé of the Democratic Party's disgraceful history of oppressing Blacks.
While it exposes a tragic history of abuse of African-Americans, Unfounded Loyalty also reveals the Republican Party's largely unheralded record of supporting Black aspirations.

I highly recommend it!

WOW! What an eye-opening and mind-expanding experience and journey this book has been.

I thought I knew at least a little about the roots of my political party. But after reading this book, my whole perspective have been given a massive injection of truth and revelation.

Rev. Perryman is to be congratulated for this incredibly well researched and thoroughly referenced work.

And yes, it's a bombshell book. You will read and discover on almost every page, some new fact or gem of truth that time, the media, and the Left have attempted to wash away. Rev Perryman, brings back into the light the irrefutable truth of the history of the Republican Party and Black America.

If you are remotely interested in either, you should put this title on your MUST READ list, and should be a book that you give to others this Christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Time to get your heads out of the sand!, June 9, 2003

This review is from: Unfounded Loyalty: An In-Depth Look into the Love Affair Between Blacks and Democrats (Hardcover)
The book (Unfounded Loyalty isn't about being politically correct; it's not about doing what's popular; it's about setting the record straight. So if you aren't interested in the truth then my advice to you is not to buy it. Black Americans need to know who and what their voting for. Our future is far too important to close our eyes and continue to make un-informed decisions. I highly recommend this book, it's a must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the truth scare you!, June 8, 2003
By
This review is from: Unfounded Loyalty: An In-Depth Look into the Love Affair Between Blacks and Democrats (Hardcover)
In my opinion (Unfounded Loyality)has shed a vail of misinformation that has been historically passed on from generation to generation by African-Americans. This book uncovered the distastfully truth about the Democratic party, and their role in the enslavement of African Americans. This book opened my eyes, and enpowered me to make informed decisions about my vote and who I'm voting for.
As Black male I have always voted on the Democratic ticket, but after reading Mr. Perryman's book that decision maybe harder to make the next time around. Well done Mr.Perryman. I know from experience that it is often difficult to take on a subject that is not popular. However, this book isn't about being popular, it's about setting the record straight.
I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in the truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars A time to Learn, November 12, 2003
By
This review is from: Unfounded Loyalty: An In-Depth Look into the Love Affair Between Blacks and Democrats (Hardcover)
Finally, Wayne Parryman has come along and written a masterpiece of a book for Black people to learn from. With electoral politics becoming more important in the lives of Black people, they can no longer afford to vote blindly and out of ignorance. This type of voting has resulted in a form of self genocide that has left Blacks the victims of every type of social problem imaginable. Not only are the prisons overflowing with Blacks, but the urban public schools no longer educate our children, but yet Blacks vote, blindly but they vote.
I recommend Unfounded Loyalty to be read by every Black person in America and become manditory reading like the Bible is for Christians. Since Blacks are not going to leave America, they had better learn the game America plays by. In this respect ignorance of the game is dangerous to our health, reading Perryman's Unfounded Loyalty goes a long way in preparing Blacks to play the game to win.

Perryman's book therefore, if read will do for Blacks what the Bible is suppose to do for Christians. I recommended this book to become a must reading wherever Blacks are gathered, and particularily within the churches.
