When I heard that Misty was including so many topics under one cover I was concerned that her book might look unfocused but boy was that not the case. She has gone into depth in the areas of painting, journaling, book making, mixed media collage and more; honestly, it is hard to put into words how stunning and comprehensive this book is. It is not just a class in a book it is weeks of classes in one book. This is a beautiful, soulful, deeply inspiring book and I can't recommend it enough.

Are you kidding me...i was expecting the best of the best...and this is IT! Whether a novice or seasoned artist-whether or not that you've taken a class with MISTY MAWN, this is a TREASURE! It is JUST as the title touts, a workshop. But then it is MORE MORE! Techniques yes, but how about digging down deep and finding your OWN specialties...what your heart and soul holds, then how to put it on paper, not be afraid, and be encouraged constantly by this professional. She will answer questions personally and speak with her heart and paint brush to you. This book covers so many different aspirations in art, that we've been lucky to pay the price. It is INVALUABLE, ARTISTIC (i"ve even painted on the sides of the book pages, which lend themselves to tactile purposes :) SOULFUL, HELPFUL! I've already done one painting, feeling Misty's words behind me, having nothing but fun and freedom! Could i go on...yes...!!!!

Misty's teachings are rich; a tapestry of classical woven with heart and daring. I am enjoying this book mostly for its gorgeous photos and writing. It just feels good to have. It also presents some mediums I have never heard of, and I am totally inspired and can't wait to experiment. Chalk full of goodness, an excellent studio companion. Big hurray for beauty + inspiration.

WOW. After taking Misty's online class I knew I wanted MORE, MORE, MORE!! This wonderful book gives me that! As I expected, it's beautiful, soulful, and well done in all ways! It's so amazing to have Misty at my finger tips and in my studio by my side at all times! Unfurling answers all those little questions that you aren't sure of about supplies, or that you've forgotten. Misty's techniques are so easy to understand and blend into your own work. This is truly one of the most beautiful and inspiring art book I've seen or owned. It goes to the very top of my list. I'm sure I'll wear out these lovely pages as I intend to spend a huge amount of time working from this book. Thank you so much Misty, your generosity and talent are overwhelming!! My next dream is to take a class in person!

This is quite possibly one of the most beautiful books I own. It is filled with gorgeous art work, beautiful poetry and quotes, and is written from the heART and soul. I love the matte pages. This book is her true voice, and it reads very much like her blog, mistymawn.typepad.com! I believe she even did all of the photography for the book which is why it has her very own unique style! The lessons are clear and she encourages you along the way....to throw out your inner critic and just create! LOVE this book!

I recently had the privilege to take a class with Misty, and I've gotta say, this book is a lot like one of her classes. Totally chock full of great information, little extras, Misty's gentle encouragement, techniques and practical information, but mostly, INSPIRATION. This is a great book for any artist, but particularly friendly and comfortable for those novice artists who might feel a little intimidated by some media. Misty makes it all really easy to access. Great book!

I've long been a fan of Misty's work and was thrilled to hear she was writing a book. This book is not only beautiful (that I expected) it's laid out in a way that is very easy to follow and yet still covers a variety of topics. I think the projects in this book will be helpful to many different skill levels and inspiring to anyone picking it up. Kudos Misty on a job well done and thank you for your sharing spirit!

I have been a fan of Misty's art for 4 years and have had the privilege of taking a workshop in person as well as online and when I heard she was doing a book I just had to have it. If there is one word I had to use to describe Misty it would be "giving". In all of her teaching ventures whether in person, online or in book format she is giving. She gives all of herself to guide and encourage you to be the best you can be. The one thing I love about this book is that it's all Misty! Her exercises, gentle prompts and creative ideas encourage you to unfurl into your own beautiful artistic self.

I had the amazing pleasure of taking Misty Mawn's 'Stretching Within' art course recently and am thrilled to have it followed up by the release of "Unfurling". I reverently took the book my Amazon box and a day hasn't passed that I haven't picked it back up again.

You can expect a very nice overview to the following art forms:

You could spend countless hours going through all of the detailed exercises in most of the sections! If you are new to art, you will have the benefit of the author spelling out all the materials you will need and resources you could use to get started on each project. If you are a seasoned artist, you will undoubtedly find treasures to implement into your existing style and work (not to mention find wings to stretch into other art forms).

"Unfurling" is also full of exquisite eye candy as one would only expect from Misty Mawn. Her talent and hauntingly beautiful depictions ooze out of these pages, and make you feel like you can do it, too.
