This review is from: Unger 92134 36-Inch Nifty Nabber Pick-Up Tool with Aluminum Handle (Lawn & Patio)
This product is advertised with an aluminum handle. However, my handle is NOT aluminum! It is hard plastic, but has been durable. The Nabber is solid overall. Having looked at many models, I was alerted to consider whether a cord vs. a wire is used to operate the jaws when the handle is pulled. Cord may have a tendency to degrade or stretch out and render the jaws unable to fully close when the handle is pulled. This Nabber has a wire to draw the jaws, which should mostly eliminate the possibility. Note that, with the jaws fully closed, the handle potentially could only be depressed another one-eighth inch before contacting the pole; so any stretching or other maladjustment could quickly affect one's ability to depress the handle far enough to draw the jaws fully closed. The jaws HAD good alignment and contact when first bought, but I often have had to bend them back into alignment after applying a little pressure on them, for example, by grasping a rag to wipe a spill off the floor with a back-and-forth motion. I've picked up a dime, an M&M, a paper clip, etc. off a hard surface, but that is becoming more problematic considering the number of times I've had to bend the jaws back into position. It handles 1-lb. food cans easily. The jaws are at an angle of about 30 degrees from the pole. The models with small suction cups seemed problematic to me. Several reviewers of those models agreed that the cups may degrade or fall off, thus compromising the grasping surface. No such problem with this tool.

These are advertised for janitorail stuff and picking up trash and stuff. But I got it because I'm short and didnt want to have to keep hauling a step stool around my kitchen and laundry area. These things are great for grabbing extra papertowels, tissues off the top shelf. Tin cans too. While I do pick up glass sauce jars, you really need to be careful, a good squeeze on the grip and stay steady that the jar doesnt spin on it's edge, it could slip. I have not had that problem happen to me, but an elderly person with a weak grip should not grab a heavy glass jar with it. plastic peanut butter jar would be fine.

I was not surprised that I was happy with this product. I have used Unger's equipment for professional window cleaning for years and was very satisfied. Although this product is made for picking up trash without having to bend down to pick it up I purchased it for a different reason. Fortunately, I was able to try the Pro model before buying this one. The only difference I found between the pro and this one is that the pro is made with a steel shaft and is different colors. Since I was borrowing it I wanted my own. This one has an aluminum shaft, I assume to cut down on weight and resulting fatigue from using it for long periods.
I purchased this item because I injured my leg and needed something that would help me do things quicker. You can grip items as strong as you like or as easy as you like. I've picked up full 1 liter nalgene bottles with it and I've picked up a dime off a concrete surface. It also has a fairly mild (yet effective) magenet on one of the pinchers to help pick up metal items like paperclips and safety pins. I routinely used it to grab sets of keys off of a board where the keys were hung on hooks as part of my job without having to get out of my chair. This is a very diversely useful product and it seems to be quite durable. You'll not that it also has a little hole on the handle in order to hang it on a hook or nail. I also got it really fast up here in Alaska.

Great product for a pregnant woman!,
This review is from: Unger 92134 36-Inch Nifty Nabber Pick-Up Tool with Aluminum Handle (Lawn & Patio)
I am seven months pregnant and I have toddler twins. So there is a lot of stuff on my floor, and I'm not able to easily pick it up! This is a great tool for picking up toys, books and such. Today I even used it to pick up a banana (very carefully). I also use it for tasks like removing laundry from the dryer. I love this thing. I could use one in every room.

I have had two other grabbers before and this one rocks my world! I just got done with a heavy-duty abdominal surgery where bending is a challenge. This grabber has helped me keep my footing at times (not recommended as a cane, but I have leaned on it a little) and has reached places where other grabbers cannot go.
The construction is awesome and the accuracey (preciseness) of this grabber is fantastic. Would I trust it taking a jar off of a shelf? I don't think I would trust any grabber for that. This one is perfect reaching for that kleenex you dropped, keys, cell phone, whatever. It's really a nice grabber. Highly recommended.

This is a well designed, well built, quality tool with the right balance and feel for most anyone to use. Therefore it is so disheartening that the jaws were designed [?] so well yet crafted with such weak material that a great tool is now a pitiful means of picking up items. Of the three I bought [ outdoor use ]and the one I had [regular use], the jaws bend with an amazing lack of force. Stronger jaws would make this tool immensely better for day to day use. I would hope the company will improve the product and update the ones that have already been sold. I can not recommend this tool as it is. I am not qualified to rate the safety of the item, but I would not trust it holding some items over my head.

I have number of devices of this type. It is difficult for me to pick up things on the floor. And the cats don't help. This is one of the best I have. The angle of the grabber is better than most.
When one of the others breaks I'll buy another one of these.

My wife and I are retired, every Summer for the last eight yrs. we've volunteered for the New Mexico State Parks system. Our jobs ranged from camp host to trail builder and our Nifty Nabber has been literally a back saver. Guest left trash as small as cigarette butts and as large as full long necks or quarts of beer. The Nabber handled both great.
Jim& Pat Cole P.S. Our purchases from Amazon from a 50 in. T.V. to a book for our Grandchild has always been a positive experance.

The Unger 92134 36-Inch Nifty Nabber Pick-Up Tool with Aluminum Handle is rugged and sturdy, nothing like the ones that fold in the middle that I have thrown away way to many times. With this grabber I would feel safe grabbing a snake with (don't try that though unless you know what your doing). It has a nice bend in the neck that does not show up well in the picture but make it a perfect angle for grabbing things up high or down low. I cannot say enough good things about this well thought out product.

Everyone who wants a grabber has seen the ads. There is even a super deluxe folding stick. Forget all that. This is the stick. You can pick up anything. It is not flimsy. It doesn't bend when you have the item halfway down (like the folding ones do). I have such confidence in this stick that I will take a crystal glass off the top shelf with no fear using my Nifty Nabber. I give them as Christmas gifts too.
