Lowe's Has a Better Product for the Same Useage,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Unger #960720 Recs/Track Bulb Changer (Kitchen)
The changer would not suction onto the bulb at all, so I had to press up really hard against the bulb to get it to turn, then someone else caught the bulb as it fell towards the floor. With the new bulb, I was able to get it to suction onto the bulb but once I put the bulb into the socket, the suction would be lost, then it became very difficult to do anything other than let the bulb fall. Lowe's has a product that uses springs and 'fingers' that works great! Wish I would have known about it BEFORE I ordered this Bulb Changer.

I ordered this, and the Unger Flood Light Bulb Changer (#92132), and the Unger 3-Stage Telepole. Because this was my first time changing the Outdoor Flood Light that's almost 18 feet high. I figured I would be able to get one of them to work, since the reviews were not ALL bad, and they didn't cost a fortune. Well, I first experimented with the flood lights in the kitchen because they're not that high. The Unger Flood Light Bulb Changer (#92132) suctioned REAL GOOD and FAST when removing the bulb -- TOO GOOD! It wouldn't let go of the bulb!!! Which is GOOD for removing the blown bulb. So, I used it to remove the bulb ONLY, and used the Unger Recs/Track Bulb Changer (#960720), the one with the string to release the suction cup (it's kinda flimsy, but did what I needed it to) to install the new bulb. I just took my time, and worked slow. Took me less than 20 minutes. Including taking out my ladder, so I wouldn't have to extend the pole to its maximum. It's less sturdy when extended all the way out. All for less than $60 bucks... I'm happy with the products!!! Oh! And I'm a 53 years young woman!!! I also ordered the broken light bulb changer just in case... I THANK GOD I didn't need it!!!

This product did not work at all. Tried to attach the suction cup to the bulb but this was a joke. Glad I did not pay a large price!

I'm really happy with this product's performance, actually. I read the other person's review, & dreaded the coming frustration... but it did not malfunction in any way. I have track lights on the 15' ceiling in my living room, so this product saved me from possibly busting my head open, trying to get up there on a ladder. As with any suction cup, you just gotta LICK it before you stick it to anything!

Like many, I read all the reviews on a product such as this one, and I read some who claimed that the product wouldn't work if the bulb was dirty and so on. I had no such experience. I had three, burned-out bulbs that were high up in a ceiling, one over a set of stairs that really looked like a problem. I changed them all with this guy on the first try, and the bulbs were at an angle and very dirty. None dropped, none broke, and the whole process was an easy one. I have yet to try the changer on halogen bulbs that have the nipples on them, so I can't comment on its use for them. But it sure worked on the smooth, recessed bulbs. I'm giving one for Christmas to my son-in-law who has a similar problem.

When I first saw the size of the suction cup I didn't think it was big enough to work well. The bulbs diameters in our light fixtures are quite a bit bigger than the silver-dollar size suction cup. I was pleasantly surprised that it worked very well and stuck very well to the bulbs- both the old one coming out and putting up the new one. Since I was changing bulbs 16 feet high and I didn't want to go up on a ladder, I ordered this bulb changer to go on the end of a long pole. It was very easy to use.

The concept is good, but this device is cheaply manufactured; the cord is not even long enough to hold it beyond 20 feet. The suction cup is just too small and it leaks unless you sprinkle it with water prior to using it. The really bad news is that I haven't found a better option out there.
