5.0 out of 5 stars Introduction of new thoughts regarding end-times.
I really enjoyed the book. The notion of John the Beloved continuing til the coming of Christ was new for me. The nephilim and the fallen angels as aliens, grays and repetile-like beings, connects alien and biblical communities. The Great Deception could well manifest in ways we least expect. I can't wait for the 3rd installment. P.S. This is my first review. That is how...

It depresses me that the Christian fiction world seems to have bonded over the wooden, dull Left Behind series when there's stuff like this out there. You want a fun, action-packed series about the Tribulation that actually has characters that aren't made of cardboard? Marzulli's Nephilim...

The Unholy Deception is the sequel to L.A. Marzulli's fabulous book Nephilim and both books are wonderful. The First book starts with a lot of background and builds up the excitement, and the second is just one heck of a roller coaster ride from start to finish. I would recommend anyone and everyone who is interested in the UFOs, ETs, etc., read these Novels. While they are fiction they are based on what very well may be fact; at least fact in that he has hit the nail on the head as to who and what UFOs and there occupants are. Weather you agree or disagree with his conclusions, you will be entertained; I could not put it down and I can't wait for part 3. There is no placidity hear, get ready for a great ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very worthy sequel to Nephilim, June 19, 2004

This review is from: The Unholy Deception: The Nephilim Return (Nephilim Series Vol. 2) (Paperback)
I found Nephilim to be such a unique approach to end-times Christian fiction that when I closed it I immediately opened its sequel, The Unholy Deception. The continuity of the story was good and the plot thickens in this second installment. Once again I found the characterization to be excellent. The only trifling annoyance to me was the emphasis on Uri's broken English...but this was not enough to downgrade the book. The idea of Satan and his fallen angels using the deception of extraterrestrials was clever. Yes, this book is far-fetched, but after all, it IS science fiction. It's action-packed and well written--altogether quite entertaining. I am eager to read the 3rd installment in the trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great., July 10, 2003

This review is from: The Unholy Deception: The Nephilim Return (Nephilim Series Vol. 2) (Paperback)
Christianity's core truth lies in the fact that the tomb was empty. that Christ rose from the dead. Without that, one of the three major world religions would lose credibilty, and mankind would lose hope.

When a secret group known as the Cadre produces something that they claim refutes that essential truth, reporter Mac Mackenzie has to stop the Evil One's conspiracy. Unfortunately, Mac's allies have been felled by disease and madness. He finds himself fighting both the government and the aliens to prove that Christ was and is divine, not a product of aliens.

He is joined in his quest by a most surprising, and heavnly ally, someone who knew our Lord in person. In a plot reminescent of the X files, a scant few must race against time to stop the world from ending.

***** Even more exciting and heart stopping than the first novel in the series, UNHOLY DECEPTION takes the gospels into the modern age. Using tiny details that have possibly been overlooked in the Bible, the author thrills readers and will hopefully incite more than a handful to read the Book that gives it foundation. The door for the story to continue is wide open.I hope that it does. *****

L. A. Marzulli, Unholy Deception: The Nephilim Return (Zondervan, 2003)

It depresses me that the Christian fiction world seems to have bonded over the wooden, dull Left Behind series when there's stuff like this out there. You want a fun, action-packed series about the Tribulation that actually has characters that aren't made of cardboard? Marzulli's Nephilim trilogy fills the bill. Not that it doesn't have problems, but in comparison, this is Pulitzer material.

Unholy Deception suffers from the middle-book-of-the-trilogy doldrums, but it's still pretty good stuff. The usual suspects are back, this time trying to thwart the Nephilim's attempt to dupe society into believing that a tomb they buried two thousand years ago contains the body of Jesus along with extraterrestrial artifacts that would prove a link between Jesus and the Martians (actually, the Nephilim, who are tied in with Lucifer and his fallen angels).

The book starts a bit slowly, as Marzulli reintroduces us to the characters coming over from the first book and adds a few more into the mix. Once it gets going, though, the action comes fast and thick. Marzulli keeps the pages turning, and the book's ending pretty much guarantees that those who have come this far are going to go onto the third book in the series. Good stuff. ***

2.0 out of 5 stars Part Two, April 2, 2003
This review is from: The Unholy Deception: The Nephilim Return (Nephilim Series Vol. 2) (Paperback)
If you read and enjoyed 'Nephilim' than you owe it to yourself to read the sequel. However like many sequels this one is a bit of a let down. It was enjoyable, however I feel that Marzulli kind of dropped the ball on this one. He had some great ideas going, however he failed to really explore them. There were just to many characters and subplots going on. If the book was longer perhaps he could have really built on these ideas. Or if he had not introduced so many new characters and subplots he could have had a solid novel. There really was no character development of the returning players from the first book. As I said early I did enjoy this book, however I would not classify it as a page turner. And like the first book there really was not a resolution at the end, just an opening for a sequel. If Marzulli had focused more on the main plot of the book, the supposed discovery of Jesus Christ's body and the plot to reveal to the world that aliens were responsible for his miracles and resurrection, then the book could have been a better read. A decent read, but far from a classic. I am sure that when the sequel is released I will read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Riveting story line !, February 25, 2011

This review is from: The Unholy Deception: The Nephilim Return (Nephilim Series Vol. 2) (Paperback)
As the 2nd book of a series it is as good a read as the first. It continues where the first book ends and takes you on a wild ride that will have you staying up late to find out what happens next. I read the entire book in 2 days. I was captivated and totally enjoyed the story line and plot. You don't have to read the book series in order, but it sure helps. This book stands on it's own merits as quite a good read. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject of the Nephilim. If you have never heard of the Nephilim, then you NEED to read this book !

5.0 out of 5 stars The Unholy Deception: The Nephilim Return by A. L. Marzulli, February 16, 2009
This review is from: The Unholy Deception: The Nephilim Return (Nephilim Series Vol. 2) (Paperback)
The Unholy Deception continues where the Nephilim left off... While both a mystery to unravel and a christian based sci-fi, this series by Lynn is the best combination of history based facts and future possibilities.
Having had the pleasure to meet and enjoy Lynn Marzulli and his musical talent in person and to have had the unique opportunity to read his drafts for his first book, The Nephilim, I can attest to the fact that his research on the subject was intense and definitely a God inspired talent to which he put into practice with both diligence and heart.
We all search for Truth within the Bible and yet at times even the best of theologians can miss the mark. With the Nephilim series, you can see in between the lines at the possibilities that there are those out there that have an Unholy agenda for those that are lost and do not know Jesus or have Him in their hearts.
This book opens up not only your mind to the what may be the Truth, but your hearts as well. I would honestly compare A.L. Marzulli's writing to other Christian novelist Frank Perriti. But beware, you may never see the media's affect on our society the same again...
