Top notch boom-tiss,
By
This review is from: Unhooked: Hook Sessions (Audio CD)
While the album starts off with the more downbeat 'Filmer', have no fear. Before long, an onslaught of some of the most straight-ahead boom-tiss gushes forth.
This is good, hard trance that simply...moves. If you've seen and heard Lawrence live, this is a good disc. This is a continuous mix of Lawrence's best tracks, though the mixing isn't the main focus. This thing pounds right out of the stereo, and is best listened to beginning-to-end, and then back to the beginning. Easy to recommend, very dependable. Perfect driving music, which is why some of Lawrence's music pops up in video driving games (like 'Rush Hour' in Need for Speed 2). Also perfect for blowing up a mega-club.

Christopher Lawrence isn't just an awesome DJ he's an excellent producer! I have been listening to this album non-stop in my car lately, and I just keep listening to it. I definitely prefer "Unhooked" over his other artist album out in 2004 "All or Nothing." I know this album is a collection of the Hook Recordings, but it is so raw and completly without vocals.
It starts off with a very nice downbeat track "Filmer," and then goes into possibly the best track on the CD "Primer." From "Primer" on the CD is mixed, and has some simply amazing songs. "Moonboy" is very appropriately named. I know Christopher is working on his future new artist album, but I hope he sticks to his roots. I know "Lie To Ourselves" is his first track to feature vocals since "Freefall," but I hope he doesn't go in that direction. From 1997's "Rise" to 2008's "Global Trance Grooves" he has stuck with spinning underground Trance grooves for the most part, and I want him to remain doing so. That is why he is so unique, and one of the best in the world! I love his style. Excellent album check it out! Also check out: George Acosta, John O'Callaghan, the "Trance World" series.

Chris Cowie, perhaps the best music producer ever.,

Considering Chris Cowie (owner of the now defunct Hook Recordings) is the author who is at the heart and soul of these tracks I think his name should be equally mentioned. CL has come a long way indeed, but in the Hook days it was Cowie who was the real master-mind behind these tunes.
Nothing against CL. He is a great DJ and songwriter, but Cowie deserves equal credit. This is indeed a fantastic album. A+

Don't let the squaeky clean white image fool you- this DJ has got game, Home Boy, and lets the beats speak louder than the words.
I really couldn't agree more with the other two reviewers about the CD and music quality of this artist. Only wish that other reviewers were as accurate in their summaries.

Way too chill for my tastes. Nothing very catchy about any of the tracks.
