5.0 out of 5 stars Repetition Please, and Pleasing in Repetition
As a parent of a 4 and 1/2 year old boy, I hear a lot of CDs over and over! Here, you won't mind, and you and your little ones will learn some Spanish along the way. Well blended w/Spanish and English and the music itself is very beautifully executed. Maria Del Rey's voice is lovely. Great fun CD to add the early years in classroom setting or at home. (Other...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for serious bilingual babies
We are raising our son trilingual according to the most recent developments in this areas. If you are to raise them bilingual as mother speakers then there has to be clear definations between each of the languages. In other words, do not mix the languages. I thought that this cd would have songs in Spanish and then the same song in English. However, verses and words...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great English/Spanish songs for all ages, January 10, 2000

This is a fun way to learn either English or Spanish. Each song alternates back and forth between English and Spanish, with a review of simple Spanish words at the end. Many songs are the ones my daughter (Kindergarten) already knows (like Old McDonald), so it makes learning foreign words easier. Plus fun musical arrangements (like one with Pirates)! We look forward to more music from Maria Del Rey! We are buying a second copy to donate to my daughter's classroom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep this one in your car!, June 2, 2000
This review is from: Uni Verse of Song: Spanish (Audio CD)
My son is 4yrs old and goes to Spanish class once a week. He really enjoys this music and so does my 2yr old who is just learning to speak english. Never too young to start the awareness of another language. We play it on the way to school. It sings one verse in English and then in Spanish, unlike some cd's that seem to be for kids who only speak Spanish. Great starter music.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Delightful and fun learning tool!, March 24, 2000

My four-year old loves this CD! Her older sister is learning Spanish in Jr. High School and now the little one is too! She loves repeating the review words after each song. The music is upbeat and fun and sometimes just plain silly. Her favorites are: "Sailing, Sailing," (she calls it 'The Pirate song' ho ho ho and a bottle of milk!) the jazzy "Shortnin' Bread" and together we dance to "La Bamba". This CD is a real kid (and mom) pleaser.

I love this CD! My 15 month old son & I listen to it every day in the car. The songs are short, peppy, & very helpful in learning Spanish. The songs all have a phrase in English, then in Spanish. I've learned so many words just singing along. The CD flyer has full translations. The singer is very clear & easy to understand. I also bought "Diez Deditos", which is quite popular. It like it, but this one is much more learnable.

5.0 out of 5 stars As a bilingual educator Universe of Song is great tool !, November 22, 2003

Having worked with children day in and day out for over 15 years in the classroom. I have a treasure of special music CDs I love to use. All of Maria Del Rey's CDs belong in my favorites catagory. They are expertly done imbued with such joy and musicianship. I have found great success when children hear a phrase in their native language then in the language they desire to learn, they gain a sense of confidence with the power of music learning phrase by phrase. Kid tune out when
it's all in one language. Del Rey is brilliant to unite all the tools I need for teaching and cultural awareness with out the usual snobbery I see in other educational materials. Maria
Del Rey's cheerful and beautiful voice works wonders for the class morale as well.

My two year old daughter and I really enjoy this CD. The songs have a fun beat and are sung in Spanish and English. Also, Spanish words are reviewed in English and Spanish throughout the CD. We listen to it in the car and she moves her head back and forth to the rhythm and sings while in her car seat. The words are very easy to understand. I would definitely recommend this CD for all ages wanting to learn Spanish.

I bought this CD because my baby and I are going to learn Spanish. She loves the upbeat music. I like that the songs are sung one line in english and then again in spanish. A great bonus inside the CD cover are the words to the songs printed in english and spanish. A happy customer.

My 15 month old son enjoys when we sing them together! It has helped my husband learn some Spanish too! I do agree that it is a bit confusing to have each song part English then part Spanish. I imagine that for a child who is learning languages, it may create confusion. However, since many people speak languages this way, I don't think it merits throwing this great CD away.
