catchy without being obnoxious like a top-40 pop hit,

yes, it's possible. punk can be catchy AND have great lyrics. the energy is infectious on this album. every time i listen to it, it kinda gives me this nostalgic feeling...brings me back to my late-teens, staying out all night. i really think it comes down to the relentless driving nature of the album. yet it has a dose of sardonic realism that doesn't keep me over-glorifying those days either.
there's just something magical about the Falcon.

If you like the Lawrence Arms, like I do, then you'll probably like this too. Think Oh! Calucutta with more acoustic guitar.

This is the best new album I've heard in a long time. Unicornography has so much energy and its brilliantly mixed with catchy lyrics and great instrumental, I hate people who say this, but it really is a must have album if you're into this kinda stuff.

This is a very solid punk album. "RL Burnouts, Inc" and "Little Triggers" are real stand-outs.

Triping Back Into The Broken Days,

It's realy strange...Matt Skiba with Heavens show off the fact that the bad album with good promotion is capable of some selling degree. In the other hand; left side of Alkaline Trio shines with the Falcon but no real recogniation at all. Forget the buzz, basic creation core purely down the the lure of Kelly (Lawrence Arms). You can feel his ambition on the song like 'The Routes We Wander and Blackout. It's full heart street punk over Andriano's first love "Tuesday". Not complete as early "Trio" but far mature than "Slapstick".
Best Track: When I Give The Signal, Run!

No reviews? Seriously?,

It's basically like old school Lawrence Arms, except...I don't know, different. It feels a little less gritty. If you consider old school LA gritty. Either way, it's better than Oh! Calcutta.
Besides the obvious Lawrence Arms references, the album stands alone as a great example of modern punk. Great sound, great lyrics, great energy. Everything you need. Just go get it. |
