Radio worked fine for 2-1/2 seasons, until I had to use it in the rain. It has never worked properly since. Seems to me that a Marine radio should be sufficiently waterproof not to fail from exposure to rain.

OK let's get into the negatives of this hand held unit. Although Uniden claims the unit can withstand getting wet it does NOT. I've returned two of these because they got splashed and water leaked into the radio. Next there is NO charge light for the battery. The only way to see of the battery is fully charged is to turn it on. I have had my radio show full charge(5 bars) then keyed it up to talk and watched it instantly fall to 3 bars. There is a charging hole on the back of the battery. It is protected by a little rubber grommet. It leaks... If you forget to put the grommet in the hole each time you remove the charging plug and 1 drop of water gets in, it's toast. Way to go Uniden selling us this chinese made crap... Don't buy one of these unless your only using a handheld on dry land for fun...
