We have had the base set and a couple of handsets for several years; the addition of the handsets just allows us to have a handset in the rooms we use most so we don't have to remember to carry the handset with us when we go into a different room (also stops kids arguing about who gets a handset in their room). Reception is clear and we can carry the handset all over our house without losing a signal. We can even go over most of our yard which is about 3/4 an acre. We like not having to plug the handsets into phone jacks. Means we can put the handset anywhere we have an AC outlet.
