Amazon.com Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description Designed for use with DECT2000/DECT 3000 series phones, the Uniden DCX200 Accessory Handset and Charging Cradle offers an impressive range, clear voice reception, and brilliant sound. Ideal for personal home or small home office use, it also boasts advanced features and user-friendly operation.

DECT 6.0 technology offers better performance, security, and battery life than older 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz phones.
The Uniden DCX200 accessory handset offers:
  • Compatible with the Uniden DECT 2000 and DECT 3000 series cordless phones.
  • Wi-fi friendly DECT 6.0 technology for maximum voice clarity and call security.
  • High-capacity phonebook for up to 70 names and numbers.
Clear, Interference-Free Calling
Every call you make or take should be crystal clear. That's why the DCX200 uses DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) technology, which operates on the 1.9 GHz range, ensuring excellent voice clarity and interference-free transmissions. Additionally, you can use the handset as a speakerphone, a great option for talking with family members or for small office teleconferences. Finally, you can effortlessly transfer calls between handsets for better call management.

Time-Saving Memory and Phonebook Features
Designed to give you easy access to the numbers you call most often, and to help you keep track of those numbers calling you, the DCX200 offers features that save you time and stress. First, the system stores up to 30 names and numbers in the caller ID memory, so you won't have to hunt for lost numbers ever again. And to help keep you organized, the DCX200 offers a phonebook feature that stores up to 70 names, performs an alphabetical search and gives you the option of assigning unique ringers to different calling parties.

You can also quickly and easily transfer a single listing or the entire phonebook. For added convenience, the handset displays the name and number of the caller in call waiting even while you are on the phone with someone else. (Note: to activate the Caller ID feature, you must first subscribe through your phone company.)

Easy Personalization
The DCX200 is easy to personalize--just create your own banner to name each handset, and then copy the phonebook from the handsets so you always have the information you need when you need it. The clock display helps keep you on time and on track, while the bilingual English/Spanish menus offer information on how to set-up and access helpful features.

About DECT Technology
Advanced DECT 6.0 technology, or Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications, operates on the newly released 1.9 GHz frequency band that was recently allocated to support cordless telephony. Uniden DECT 6.0 incorporates unique "listen before transmit" technology that avoids interference with many household products, such as baby monitors, microwaves and WiFi (which operate on frequencies like 2.4 GHz). As a result, DECT phones offer consumers enhanced voice clarity and crystal clear digital sound quality. DECT 6.0 technology also offers higher security and voice protection, as well as a longer battery and battery standby life than existing 2.4 GHZ or 5.8 GHz phones.

The DCX200 is backed by a one-year limited warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product so far!, December 16, 2007

This review is from: Uniden DCX200 DECT 6.0 Accessory Handset and Charging Cradle for the DECT2000/DECT 3000 Series Phones - Silver (Office Product)
This phone has a much greater range than my last one and the sound is more consistent. It also seems to have a longer battery life so that is terrific. And it shows a much longer chain of previously dialed numbers. It took a little while to find my way around this new one, but it was pretty intuitive and didn't require much reading. Overall a very good experience--and I got it on time too. Thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars uniden handset and charger, February 29, 2008

This review is from: Uniden DCX200 DECT 6.0 Accessory Handset and Charging Cradle for the DECT2000/DECT 3000 Series Phones - Silver (Office Product)
I have 6 uniden handsets in a stone house with walls that often limit reception. These units communicate well with each other through thick walls that have stopped the reception of other portable handsets. They are easy to use with convenient intercom ability.

1.0 out of 5 stars BEWARE: Buttons stop working after 6 months!, May 4, 2009
This review is from: Uniden DCX200 DECT 6.0 Accessory Handset and Charging Cradle for the DECT2000/DECT 3000 Series Phones - Silver (Office Product)
When i first bought this phone 6 months ago, I had posted a 4-star review on the phone which I have now deleted.

You see, what you'll notice about most reviews on amazon.com is that people write the reviews after playing with their new product for only a couple of days while it's still brand new. But now that I have owned this phone for 6 months, I can tell you from 6 months worth of experience to stay away from this phone because the buttons stop working in about that timespan.

For example, the big square button near the center of the phone is a very important button, because it lets you:
1. Scroll through caller ID information
2. Scroll through your redial history
3. Set your ringer volume, and
4. Access your address book (if you use one; I don't).

Since I don't use an address book on my phone, I don't really use that square button as much as most people do. I use it strictly to access 1, 2, and 3 above.

However, after only 6 months of light usage, that square button is almost completely unresponsive. You have to try to push it down as hard as you possibly can with your thumb, and hope that the phone will somehow register your finger press. What used to take a few moments to adjust the ringer volume or scroll through caller ID... now can take MINUTES of frustration as you try to press that button.

And... Uniden's customer service is horrible. I emailed Uniden about getting a replacement handset or a repair to his handset... and they never emailed back. Plus, their website lists NO PHONE NUMBERS for the company. Go ahead, I dare you to try to find a phone number listed on Uniden's website.

Furthermore, the other major bad point about this phone is that the number keys that you press to actually dial the phone are NOT individual buttons that you can press! Each horizontal row of 3 buttons is actually ONE GIGANTIC HORIZONTAL BUTTON, which makes it more difficult to press the individual button that you want to press without looking at the phone. Go ahead and zoom into the photo of the phone to see what I'm talking about.

Although Uniden did indent the middle button on each row, it's not indented enough for you to feel where each button begins & ends. Furthermore, we have found that because the horizontal rows of buttons are nothing more than one gigantic button, the phone does not always respond to our finger presses at all -- we have to press VERY HARD to get it to respond to our button presses. This did not happen at all on our previous Uniden 2.4 GHz phone, because each one of the buttons was an INDEPENDENT & UNIQUE BUTTON.

Plus, it gets even harder to press these buttons over time, because these buttons become more unresponsive to your touch.

On the plus side, these are the good points about the phone which we enjoyed during the first 6 months: Great sound quality, very easy ability to add extra handsets throughout your house without the need for any additional phone jacks, fully-featured phone with all the features that you would need (ringer off ability, belt clip, headset-compatible, speakerphone, mute ability, voicemail indicator, caller ID history, easy-to-use menus and instruction booklets)! Also, as you probably already know, the DECT 6.0 technology uses the 1.9 GHz frequency, so it will not interfere with your wireless devices around the house (computers, routers, TiVo, Roku Netflix box, etc.) that are broadcasting at either 2.4 GHz (802.11b/g) or 5.8 GHz (802.11n).

But, considering the phone starts breaking down after only 6 months of very light usage, you are NOT getting a good deal for your money here.

I would recommend looking elsewhere for a phone.
