I got the Uniden DCX640 system with extra handsets and I love it!
The sound is extremely clear and even clearer when using the speakerphone in the handset. It has too many features to include here but one favorite is that I can set a ringtone for each caller so that if I am not in the room and hear the ringtone I know who is calling. I also like the intercom system.. very handy. This is the best phone system I have ever used! I found no 'cons' just all 'pros'

I purchased this phone system at a local store and now I am getting some extra handsets. This is a remarkable phone system! Absolutely the best one I have ever purchased in my life. I do not want to live without the do not disturb function, which mutes the answering machine but records your incoming messages without the phone ringing. I work at night and now I can get some peaceful sleep in the morning without being interupted before I get up. Too many features to list, just make sure you read the manual thoroughly to get them most use of all the features and set it up to you preferences. If you need a multi handset phone this one is a gem! Love the amber colored keypad buttons too. I just keep telling my friends how great my new phone is, now I want to tell everyone to get one.

During a family gathering, my daughter layed her newborn baby to sleep in an upstairs room. She soon discovered that she had forgotten to pack her baby monitor. So, I had a chance to show off this phone once again. We used our phone's monitor feature to ease our minds and allow us to have a good time, while still being able to hear when the baby woke up. Another bonus was that the phone did not ring during dinner time to disturb us because it was on monitor mode. I have the base and three additional handsets (total of 4). It is great! I even talked a few neighbors into buying this phone. Highly recommended.

Just bought the third extension for this great system. We use this phone system on a VoIP line. It's the easiest way to have extension phones using VoIP. Works fantastic and for the money, it can't be beat.

I absolutely love these phone handsets. I already owned the base with the answering machine and one extra handset; but I wanted to add on to allow my family to take advantage of the intercom feature. I have a 3-level home and three kids, yelling up and down the stairs is usually a futile attempt at getting their attention. This phone allows me to ring whichever handset I want and also allows conferencing between 3 handsets at once. The speaker feature is very clear and the ability to retrieve my messages from any handset is an awesome extra.

Bottom line: Excellent product at an unbeatable price!!!

I have several of these phones and they are great. I particularly like the ability to add numbers to the "phone book" and assign different rings to these numbers. Family member numbers ring "There's No Place Like Home", Mom-in-Law gets "Irish Eyes Are Shining", etc. 22 different rings are available and invaluable ones are "soft ring" for my Grand kids' friends because they call incessantly. Nagging bill collectors get "No Ring" (cheaper than phone company's block list feature that costs $5 a month forever & only blocks 10 numbers).

Now for the negatives. It is easy to add a phone number from the "Call ID" list to the "Phone Book" BUT it doesn't add the "1" to before the area code so I have to re-enter the Phone number with the "1" because I have found no way to insert the "1" in front. I have to delete the number and re-enter it.

Another is the "Intercom Feature". It works but because this phone uses a single menu key for almost all functions, it is sort of difficult to turn on and off the Intercom function.

Last, there is the ability to send the phone book to other phones on the system but the memory on each phone needs to be expanded a bit. I like to ship the whole phone book to each phone on the system and when it gets above about 30 numbers, I can't because of lack of memory so I have to ship the numbers individually. The positive side to this is that all programming for each number (speed dial, ring tone) is shipped along with the number. Yet you can change the speed dial numbers and ring tones individually on each phone if you want to so if you don't want loud rings for your teen's numbers on your phone you can program quiet numbers while your teen can set a different tone for his/her friends on their phone. You can also set a different default ring for each phone, so bedroom phones can have a softer ring while noiser areas can have louder rings set up. Very flexable.

All in all, it is the closest to a cell phone's capability I have found yet these phones are sturdier. Most of mine have been dropped many times and they still all work just fine.

Try it, you will not be dissapointed.

I purchased the base unit, and then the add'l 4th handset. This is a great system. The battery life is surprisingly good given the light weight of the phone. Nice to make the banner so you know what phone goes where. Being able to transfer the phonebook to the other phones is nice, too. Great system, and cheap. 4 phones for under $100? Nice.

This phone system is awesome!!! It's a hidden treasure. It's got way more features than I expected. Not only is it an expandable cordless phone system that allows you to put a phone in any room with an electrical outlet, but it's got a lot of neat features. You name each phone with the name of the room it's in. One phone can call another individual phone. Each phone has several ringers to choose from. You can transfer your address information and saved numbers to one or all of the other extensions. You can even take two phones with you out of the house and use them as walkie talkies when you're out shopping or whatever. These are just a few of the cool features this phone system has. It's easy to use. This is a really great phone system and worth every penny. I purchased the additional handset which put my system at the maximum 4-phone capacity. If you like gadgets, you'll love this phone system!!!

When I bought my Uniden phone it came with 3 handsets, however one handset was defective from day one. I decided to buy the two extra handsets from Amazon because the price was far cheaper than going thru Uniden, and this phone has great features and a huge memory, it was worth investing some money in it rather than replacing the whole system. My only complaint is that Uniden's instructions on how to unregister the defective handset and add the two new ones were very vague and incomplete. In my case, the defective handset not only had to be unregistered but to get all 4 handsets assigned a number, I also had to go thru the replacing the base unit procedure. Now that the new system is set up, all the handsets have been completely reliable and much more convenient.

I bought three of these and they all worked perfectly out of the box, the signal is strong and clear and they have some cool features and ring tones. This was a good choice..
