I have a DCT640 and my one year old tossed one of the phones in the toilet. The LCD never worked again on it, and they do not make DCX640 any more. I ordered one of these and it worked! The phone book would not transfer, but everything else worked fine. Even the the old charger works with the phone. One of my other DCX640s has a button that sticks, so I just ordered a second one of these. Its nice to have backward compatibility! Good job Uniden.

I was very happy with the two handsets/chargers I purchased that were not exactly the same as my original set but were compatible. They have worked fine and now I have a set of four cordless phones. Could not find them in any local store so Amazon came to my rescue!

Works great. This item is a low-cost addition to the three handsets that came with my phone system. Great deal for under $20.

I bought 2 of these handsets to go with the baseunit I already had. The speaker phone function is great (very clear, and can pick up conversation from across the room), my wife and I can use it to sit together or move about the room while chatting with family. Also, the fact that only the baseunit needs a phone cord makes this a great phone for internet phone users (VOIP). One phone in the kitchen, another in the bedroom, and the baseunit in the living room with the cable modem.
NOTE: this phone will work perfectly with normal phone service as well.
Finally, the phone has a useful intercom function, where you can page a specific phone (or all of them), and talk to them through the phone (works well if you are working in the back yard and your wife needs to reach you).

This phone is convenient and easy to use. I like the fact that I can
transfer my Phone book from the base unit without having to go through
the tedious task of entering each entry letter by letter. I have three
separate handsets, besides the base unit.

Overall, the product is great. Although the buttons are not in the most convenient places and it's not as easy to review and delete Caller ID names then most other cordless phones I've had before (particularly the Vtech series), there are many more features to boast on this unit. It's nice to be able to "tag" different rings to certain numbers, it allows you to tell who's calling prior to even viewing the Caller ID names.

I bought this phone a few years ago and I love it. I am in a new house with only 1 phone outlet and I can just plug the main one in the outlet and the rest of them in the wall outlets anywhere and I have phones all over the place. I even bought another handset and that was very easy to set up and worked on first try. The answering machine is very easy to use and the messages are nice and clear, not like my old one. I have a new grandson and use them as baby monitors. I have taken them with me to the flea market and we can use them as walkie talkies. These are great. I loved it so much I bought a second one for my daughter and her family and she loves it too.

We ordered three satellites for our phone answering machine. All work perfectly. They are a pleasure to use.

The handset has worked as specified. I am using it with an internet phone service (voip). It has all the features one could ask for. It has proven simple to program. The only concern is how it will work when I start using wireless computer access which is in the same frequency range.

Thanks for providing me with the opportunity to replace a phone I unfortunately ran over with my car. That's what happens with cordless sometimes! LOL. It's working fine and my parents are pleased they now have 3 phones instead of two. Hey...check this out...Radio Shack said this wasn't available. Thanks Amazon for proving them wrong.
