5.0 out of 5 stars Don't miss out on an incredible deal!
I recently purchased a Uniden Dect 6.0 Cordless phone set with a digital answering machine, Caller ID and two extra handsets for only $31! No, that's not a typo. With Amazon's Super Saver Free Delivery and an in-house discount of $30 (check with Amazon to see if the product you choose qualifies), $31 was all I had to pay! I choose the Uniden brand because that's what I...

1.0 out of 5 stars Worked for one week. Maybe. And the "customer service?" Not so much.
I bought this phone three weeks ago. Last Saturday, one of the handsets stopped communicating with the base. I pored over the user's manual that came with the phone (useless), searched for more detailed information online (equally useless), and tried calling customer service. No answer, as they are only open M-F 8 am to 5 pm central time.

Tried their "24/7"...

Tried their "24/7" customer service via the web... and nearly a week later have yet to receive a response to my query.

Meanwhile, I called on Monday to discuss the problem with a representative during their extremely constrained business hours. Spent 30 minutes on hold before I reached anyone (soon to discover that was a really short wait with Uniden!)In the midst of my conversation with the CS rep, our call got disconnected. I called back... and was on hold for TWO HOURS. (I kid you not.) They never actually picked up the phone again; I finally gave up.

Tuesday, I called again, this time bright and early in the morning. Spent another 45 minutes on hold, being told by a recorded voice every 3-4 minutes how "important" my call is to them. Finally got through, began to explain my problem to the CS rep, only to have her not listen to what I was saying and ask questions that I had just given her the answers to. Taking a moment to control my now...heightened...frustration, I took a couple deep breaths before apologizing for any anger that might creep into my voice and began to explain that I was left on hold for two hours the day before. Before I could finish, the CS rep told me she was going to put me back on hold "so I could calm down." Perhaps not the wisest move, eh?

So, here I am, livid and on hold. "Customer Service" comes back on, I tell her, perhaps not politely, that I don't want her to put me on hold without my permission again--and she immediately breaks in to say "you need to calm down and then you can talk to my supervisor." I finally got to talk with a supervisor who was marginally more helpful, and determined that the battery in my phone was defective. It can be replaced if I fax the receipt to the parts dept etc etc etc. Okay fine.

Three days later, down to two functioning handsets out of the three while I wait for the replacement battery... the same problem happens with another handset. Hmm, do you suppose it might have been something other than the battery? Yeah, me too. So I've called "customer service" again... and as of this moment, I've been on hold for ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES. In addition to hearing sales pitches for the same four items (thanks, not interested after my poor experience right here and now), I get to hear running patter about how much they appreciate my willingness to hold "just a moment longer" and that my call "is important" to them. "Rest assured that we'll be with you just as soon as we can; please hold just a moment longer."

Gosh. Somehow I don't really feel the love.

And if you're interested in buying this phone--or any product from Uniden--I respectfully suggest that you consider another option. Unless of course you're into being treated like crap once they've got your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't miss out on an incredible deal!, October 13, 2009

I recently purchased a Uniden Dect 6.0 Cordless phone set with a digital answering machine, Caller ID and two extra handsets for only $31! No, that's not a typo. With Amazon's Super Saver Free Delivery and an in-house discount of $30 (check with Amazon to see if the product you choose qualifies), $31 was all I had to pay! I choose the Uniden brand because that's what I had before and it lasted a long, long time plus, I could be at least 100 yards away from the base and still get a phone signal (dial tone), and that was with only 947 MgHz of power!

What I like most about the phone I bought with the extra handsets (1580-3) is that I can put the handsets in key areas that suit me since I can't get around very fast to answer the phone. The reception is very clear on all the handsets and the voice recorder is also very clear. One of the neat features of the phone is that you can set a different ring tone for each handset. I'm also able to transfer calls between handsets and the speaker phone is in the handsets! The set-up is very easy and the function keys are fairly simple, not complicated at all.

I called around for months looking for a good deal on a new cordless phone, even checking with Best Buy and Fry's Electronics and absolutely NO ONE could get even close to the deal I got purchasing my set through Amazon. Thus far, I am very happy with all the products I have purchased through Amazon.Uniden DECT 6.0 Cordless Digital Answering System with Caller ID and 2 Extra Handsets and Charging Cradles

Excellent features and the DECT 6.0 sound quality is perfect. One can use the speakers on phone and no one knows you are doing this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sorry I bought it, July 29, 2010
This review is from: Uniden DECT1580-3 DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with Digital Answering System and Two Extra Handsets (Office Product)
I have just returned this phone set to the manufacturer, per instructions. It started out OK when I installed it after properly allowing the batteries to reach full charge. But in use I encountered intermittent dial tones; and the phone call tests would not "end." After hours of frustration trying to follow the minimal instructions in the included guidebook, then trying to do the same with the downloadable Owners' Manual, I finally gave up and called Customer Service. The rep immediately said it sounded like a "base phone" issue, and I should return it to the store where I purchased it. This, despite the instructions on the box NOT to return it to the seller. A lotta grief and frustration for what should be a simple item in today's high tech world. I've replaced it with a Vtech system We'll see if that goes any easier.

3.0 out of 5 stars Important parts optional, September 19, 2009

I've had great results with uniden phones in the past and felt this would be the ideal upgrade. While the phone has several usefull and easy to use features it came as a surprise that to wall mount the base unit you'll need to order the wall adapter from uniden. So add another $10.00 to the price if you need the extra part.

The product description leaves this out.

Other than that the phone works fine.

We replaced an aging unit by the same company. An amazing amount of stuff for what one pays for these phone systems. The battery lasts a long time. The sound is clear. The hand held units feel comfortable in your hand.

I purchased this set for my daughter in June, then a friend of hers asked for the same thing for Christmas because it was such a great package deal at a great price. The seller was so great!

1.0 out of 5 stars Problem on first day, February 14, 2010
This review is from: Uniden DECT1580-3 DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with Digital Answering System and Two Extra Handsets (Office Product)
On Day 1 after 7 hours of charging, the base handset went "searching" when only 5 feet from the base. When I push TALK to dial a number, the signal goes awry, breaking up. The secondary handsets do not have this problem. I also found the setup directions incomplete and some parts difficult to understand. I do not recommend purchasing this this phone. I am returning to the store today.

2.0 out of 5 stars So-So Value, November 21, 2011
This review is from: Uniden DECT1580-3 DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with Digital Answering System and Two Extra Handsets (Office Product)
I bought this unit from a vendor other than Amazon, because I was in a hurry to get a phone in my house after my previous phone finally gave up the ghost. Anyway, the voice quality for both the hands sets and the speaker phone are quite good, and I've had no problem with the answering machine. When the phone is working correctly, I can expect many hours of talk time before a charge is needed, which brings me to my biggest problem with this phone.

The individual handsets seem to drain themselves of power and then lose contact with the base unit WHILE THEY ARE SITTING IN THEIR CHARGER UNITS. It does not always happen, but it happens often enough to be more than annoying. I expect my phone to charge up while in the charger, not charge up and then discharge without ever being lifted from the unit.

Sometimes I have picked up the unit only to find that it only has half a charge let. If I don't check, I may, actually drop an important call as the unit quickly discharges itself while in use.

I was also a bit miffed at the fact that the estimated battery life was only 1-year, after which I would have to either spend $60 to replace the batteries or buy yet another new phone.

My advice is to pay a little more for a better quality phone.
