5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value in a dual handset cordless, February 15, 2003
This review is from: Uniden DXAI388-2 900 MHz Dual Handset Cordless Phone System with Extra Charging Cradle and Answering Machine (Office Product)
Easy to follow instructions to set up, I can hear the outgoing and incoming messages and the remote handset lets me answer the phone and make calls when I'm in another room away from the base. If the battery in one handset runs low, I just switch it with the other handset and use one while the other charges. The outgoing/incoming messages, ring tones and volumes are fully adjustable from soft to super loud on the base and both handsets. The sound is crystal clear and I get absolutely no distortion or static interference. I'm very happy with this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, great price, April 16, 2003
This review is from: Uniden DXAI388-2 900 MHz Dual Handset Cordless Phone System with Extra Charging Cradle and Answering Machine (Office Product)
I've had this phone system for a month now & I love it. I bought the 900MHz on purpose because the 2.4GHz interferes with wireless 54g routers & I have one. To date, i'm super impressed with this phone. The sound quality is clear & the extension unit works great in my bedroom (which doesn't have a phone line). The answering system is digital so you get a little distortion (nothing like good old tape) but I can live with that. Also, the battery lasts a long, long time unlike my Vtech which dies out in 2 hours. Overall, I highly recommend this product.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Uniden DXAI388-2 900 MHz Dual Handset Cordless Phone System with Extra Charging Cradle and Answering Machine (Office Product)
I wrote the first review on this item in March. Since then, I feel like I need to add another comment about its performance and durability:
About a month ago, in the case of BOTH handsets and their respective bases, I started experiencing problems with what I thought was battery charge-time. It turned out that batteries were fine but the phone wouldn't just fall into place correctly, hence wouldn't get charged at all. I'm still using the handsets but I've now learnt that I will have to play with their placement for a few seconds and until the red "charging" light is lit.

The most attractive feature of this phone was its considerably low price (for two handsets), but if I was to do it all over, I think I would spend a little more and get a phone where I will KNOW will stay charged and available if I need it.

I don't recommend this phone if it's the ONLY ONE you're using in your household.

Original March review:
I've only owned this phone for a month ... I don't know how they hold up as far as breaking down is concerned, but assuming it holds up, it's definitely a great product for the money:
PROS:
> The second handset need only to be plugged in for charging (i.e. no phone jack is needed). This makes the product ideal for use in rooms or areas where you don't have a phone Jack or it's hard to reach.
> To change the ringer volume or turn it off (a feature I was definitely interested in), you don't have to go through extensive menues and it's all done with click of a button for either handsets and the base (arrow up/down), all independant of each other.
> Caller ID on both handsets (which can be placed on the base with the caller ID screen facing up).
> Remote access
> Good quality voice and reception

CONS:
> No loud-speakers (on the base or handsets).
> The secondary handset doesn't allow
> Only one person at a time can use the phone. In other words, both handsets won't work simultaneously
> Unplugging it from the wall or power-outage will reset the time and date, and you'll have to go back and set it again (some phones have internal battery for short-time memory)

OVER ALL:
Good value for the money
