4.0 out of 5 stars great phones
I bought these phones to replace my 5 year old phone... it had issues as you will be able to assume. These phones were easy to set up, and have been great. Reception is good in every room of my home. The only down side is that reception is not great in the yard. Fine for everyday use, and easy to read caller id built in is a plus.

I have no problems with the performance of the phones. Sound quality and distance are fine.
What I did not realize until too late was:
1. You cannot use both phones at once. This is really surprising and annoying when two people want to be on a conversation.
2. There is no "mute" feature, neither when on handset nor on speakerphone. This is a significant problem when on a long conference call where you are mostly listening in.

It looks so much like my other Uniden cordless set (a two-line model) that I assumed it also had these same, basic features.

Update 1 month later: Both handsets now die at random during phone calls. I've just thrown the phones out. They are clearly inferior to other Uniden phones I've had. I've replaced this model with Uniden TRU9485.

I'd change the rating to one star, but apparently one cannot edit the star # in an existing review.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Product....but, July 21, 2008
This review is from: Uniden DXAI8560-2 5.8 GHz Digital Caller ID Cordless Phone with One Extra Handset/Cradle (Office Product)
A good product if your house is totally plain with no corners or walls, the phone must be very close to the station, about 4 to 5 meters around with no obstacles...

5.0 out of 5 stars good phone, great value, February 2, 2009

After much trial and error I finally found a cordless phone I like. This is a good solid unit that fits nicely in the hand. The caller ID is easy to read and the unit has the best sound quality I have experienced in a coldless phone. It is a bit heavy for extended use, but that is true of all units with lighted keypads.

2.0 out of 5 stars Missing some key features, October 2, 2009
This review is from: Uniden DXAI8560-2 5.8 GHz Digital Caller ID Cordless Phone with One Extra Handset/Cradle (Office Product)
I work from home frequently and wanted to use this phone for my conference calls. But within just a day of usage I have found the following limitations:

- The volume control has only 3 options "Low", "Medium", and "High". That's not good enough when even on the "Low" setting the volume is really loud. The phone screams! And if you are on speaker, you want to muffle the sound by covering with your hand otherwise you will be waking up the neighbors :)

- To add to the above agony, there is no "mute" feature. So when your family yells back at you to lower the volume, everybody hears the yelling.

Phones seemed fine but one handset stayed lighted all the time so I returned the whole thing. Also, I tried to use the phone with a headset (the same one I use everyday with my cell) and the party I was speaking with could not understand a word. Don't know why that was!

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheap construction, ridiculously loud speakerphone, July 21, 2008
This review is from: Uniden DXAI8560-2 5.8 GHz Digital Caller ID Cordless Phone with One Extra Handset/Cradle (Office Product)
I wouldn't recommend this phone, but I'm stuck with it since I threw out my packaging before I had a chance to really use it.

The "end" call button is so sensitive (and unrecessed) that you will disconnect a caller if you try to cradle this phone between your face and shoulder for even a half-second.

The speakerphone, even at its "lowest" setting, is so loud that my neighbors can surely hear it.

The ringtones are largely unpleasant.

The range is not impressive, either, despite what is advertised.
