Uniden's DXI5186-2 cordless phone system offers a wealth of features for the everyday household. Using the 5.8 GHz frequency and analog technology, this model also supports caller ID with call waiting, and it comes with an extra handset.
All call features are accessed through the phone system's handset(s), including last number redial, call transfer between handsets, and convenient volume control. Each handset houses a three-line backlit LCD for displaying caller information and allowing access to saved numbers, even while you're taking another call. Information can be displayed in your choice of English, French, or Spanish. Handsets are also compatible with most hearing aids and headsets (sold separately).
The DXI5186-2 features a handset status LED to let you know when an extension is in use and a voicemail waiting indicator to alert you to new voicemail messages. The system requires only one phone jack for operation--simply plug the main base unit, and the extra handset will configure itself to "talk" wirelessly with the base unit. The additional charging cradle acts as a power supply only. Both base unit and charging cradle are desk or wall mountable.
What's in the Box
DXI5186-2 (base unit and handset, plus additional handset and charging cradle), one phone line cord, two AC power adapters, two rechargeable battery packs and covers, user guide, warranty information

Great little phone- Uniden never disappoints,
By Christy "Hokie Wife" (Roanoke VA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Uniden DXI5186-2 5.8 GHz Analog Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets and Caller ID (Silver/Black) (Office Product)
I bought this phone to replace my 2.4Ghz Uniden phone with digital answering machine. The phone still worked great, but we had worn out the digital answering machine plus I had just unknownly purchased a 2.4Ghz wireless router for my laptop and everytime the phone would ring I would get kicked off the internet (just a warning those looking to buy a wirless router- make sure its not the same Ghz as your phones) So I decided to upgrade to the 5.8Ghz so I wouldn't have the same problem (which I haven't it works great I can talk and work on my laptop at the same time) The sound quality is superb. The only feature I wish it had was a back-lit key pad. We recently switched to Digital phone service that has voice mail so I may return it for the one without the answering machine since I don't need it anymore but I would highly recommend the phone. I still use my old Uniden I just turned off the answering machine.

Great sound, but you can only use one handset at a time.,
This review is from: Uniden DXI5186-2 5.8 GHz Analog Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets and Caller ID (Silver/Black) (Office Product)
Pros:- Great voice quality; better than the expensive 5.8ghz models which use digital 5.8ghz. While this model uses "analog" 5.8ghz, that can be an advantage as it results in less sound processing and a clearer sound. Con: (and a big one): You can only use one of the two handsets at a time. WTF? Great if you're the only one in the house; not so great for a family. You can tansfer a call from one handset to the other, but cannot use both handets at the same time. Maybe I just missed it, but I didn't see this restriction listed in the product info anywhere.

Great phone!,

Finally a phone that DOESN'T interfere with my wireless internet! It uses a combo of 5.8ghz and 900mhz, unlike some that use the 2.4ghz combo, which will knock out wireless internet.Range is excellent. Went down in basement and outside all around house and didn't lose the connection. 1 drawback- yeah, you can only use one handset at a time. No biggie here.
