A Good, Cheap Cordless Phone,
By Leon W. Blocker "Hoss" (Muscatine, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Uniden DECT 6.0 Digital Caller ID Cordless Phone (DECT1560) (Office Product)
This is hardly a useless phone.Let's get personal bias out of the way right now - it's impossible for me to be down on any phone that features the Star Spangled Banner as a ringtone, ok? ;-) Ok, this is still a good, cheap phone. You are not going to get a world's worth of features for $25, but this phone does pack a lot into the offer : * a 70-entry phonebook * a voice-mail light (if you have such service) * 30-entry caller ID log * T-coil friendly (if you have such a hearing aid) * easy set-up * great sound quality * speakerphone All of which you will probably find in most other cordless phones, but probably in handsets costing a lot more and they probably won't be DECT 6.0 either. Is this handset going to cure cancer? Heavens, no. But for a basic DECT 6.0 cordless phone, this is an unbeatable deal. The bottom line is this phone is a good value, and a good deal - so long as you don't want to use a headphone.

Great phone if you don't need an answering machine!,
This review is from: Uniden DECT 6.0 Digital Caller ID Cordless Phone (DECT1560) (Office Product)
I was looking for a phone for my future dorm room. I don't have any use for an answering machine, and finding this phone with up to date features was great. It seems to be well made and feels good in my hand. I love the customization features such as backlit number pad, long battery life, and customizable ringers. I decided to rate this product in an attempt to bring the rating for this phone back up. One guy gave this phone a 1 out of 5 rating for it not having a headphone port...absolutely ridiculous. Don't mislead others by giving false ratings just because you were uninformed on your purchase. I love this phone and I would recommend it highly. Very affordable and great features for the price. I got my sister one too and she loves it!

INEXPENSIVE PHONE THAT MEETS MY PERSONAL NEEDS PERFECTLY,
This review is from: Uniden DECT 6.0 Digital Caller ID Cordless Phone (DECT1560) (Office Product)
We have phones stuck all over the place in our home, barn, garage, office, get-away-place, et al. I happen to have this particular phone at one of my desks in my home office. Each of these phones are of a different brands. This unit meets all of my requirements for a phone in this particular location; It is cheap. It works. It was easy to set-up. If the dog chews it up, I have not lost much. (Yes, this has happened in the past). It holds a charge. The range is adequate (back porch, front driveway, kitchen). It is not ugly. The only down side is that there is an ever so light back echo in the voice of people calling me. Fortunately, not many people call me, so this is of little moment....well, actually they do call, but I ignore the ring; let my wife answer it, and if it is for me, I tell her to tell them I will call them back. Now keep in mind that I am not what you would call a sophisticated phone techy. All I want is something that works and causes me little to no hassle and does not cost very much. This phone meets my particular needs perfectly. I have had if or over a year now and have had no problems what so ever. Don Blankenship The Ozarks

Uniden DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone Not Good,
This review is from: Uniden DECT 6.0 Digital Caller ID Cordless Phone (DECT1560) (Office Product)
I've had this phone for a while now. It was just okay at first; however, as the months rolled by, I had more and more problems with it:1. Sound Quality: I can hear people on the other end of the line just fine, but sometimes they can't hear me clearly, if at all. I've had people say, "I can hardly hear you," or "Your voice sounds really muffled." This has not happened with any other land-line phone I've owned. 2. Range: Sometimes even when I'm next to the base, the readout says I'm out of range. Sometimes it just drops a call. 3. Static: Arguably, this issue could fall under "Sound Quality," but it's more serious than that. As of right now, I can't even use the phone because there's so much static. And while the static is happening, I can't hear the person's voice on the other end of the line. It does this every now and then, thereby making this one of the least dependable phones I've ever owned. 4. Headset and Base: The handset does not fit into the base snugly enough, and when it's inside, it falls out at the drop of a hat. And the handset in general is hard to hold on to. 5. Bad Buttons: The large center button that controls the phone book, caller ID history, and ringer volume no longer functions properly. Long story short, it sticks most of the time. For example, scrolling through the phone book should be a no-brainer, but pushing on the down arrow simply doesn't work sometimes. And when it does, I often can't scroll up, forcing me to keep scrolling down until it cycles beyond the beginning. Otherwise, the phone looks okay, and the battery seems to have a decent life. Those are about the only positive things I can say about it.

I only use my home phone line when I am working from home and needed a speaker phone. According to the people I have talked to on the phone, the quality is excellent, even when the handset is at a distance. The features on the phone (mute, redial, caller ID) are very easy to use. This is an excellent land-line cordless phone, for those that still have a land-line.

This phone has all the features you will need. I first thought this was only an expansion handset but quickly notice that it connect to the telephone line, a clue that its a phone. One thing that I had to deal with is registering the phone to the base. The owner manual has the right steps but it does not tell you that to reset the phone you have to unplug both the telephone line and the adapter line and the battery from the phone. You have to leave the phone in this unconnected state for an half hr. This it will register. You can find intercom, walkie speaker-phone, caller ID, phone book, and ringer features all included. Since it does not have an answer machine, you will have to rely on other answer services. Entering numbers into the phone book is easy for any non-tech person. You even have to option of enter area codes so that you don't have to dial 10 digits numbers. The phone is comfortable in your hands, easy to hold between your shoulders and your ear, does not support headsets(headphones type). Its hearing air friendly. Make sure that when you set the features that your within range of the base. Since I got the 6.0 version, its WiFi friendly so no noise on my computer's wireless connections.

Good phone, bad battery,
By David Diez (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Uniden DECT 6.0 Digital Caller ID Cordless Phone (DECT1560) (Office Product)
Pros* Overall good sound quality Neutral * Buttons are semi-intuitive, but there is room for improvement. Given how long Uniden has been selling cordless phones, they should have figured this all out by now. Cons * Battery started dying after 12 months of use and is now on its last legs at 16 months. * Volume goes from medium to very loud, but none of the settings are very quiet The battery issue is the biggest annoyance. Uniden used to provide long-lasting batteries with their phones (my cordless battery in my Uniden handset from 10 years ago lasted for about five years, as did another Uniden phone I had later gotten). It seems Uniden has fallen down to the level of so many other companies and decided that customers would rather save a couple dollars than have a device that reliably lasts 3-5 times as long. I'll buy from another company on my next cordless purchase, not because I'm a snob for quality, but because I'd rather pay an extra amount up front than have the extra cost (and hassle) of fixing things later on.

I initially was going to buy another brand, but as cheap as this one was, I thought what the heck I'll try it, I am so impressed with the sound quality, I sometimes can not hear clearly on the phone, this one has adjustable volume and is loud enough for me to hear loud and clear! to me that alone makes it makes this inexpensive phone a 5 star. I have an answer machine already so this was ideal, all the features i could want.

Good But Lacks Speed Dial,
By alooknac (Montana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Uniden DECT 6.0 Digital Caller ID Cordless Phone (DECT1560) (Office Product)
I was very happy with this phone till I went to use it with my calling card. As I entered phone numbers in the directory I realized there was no instruction about inserting pauses or designating speed dial numbers. That's when I realized that storing numbers in memory and Speed Dial are two different things. So to use my calling card easily I had to use the calling card's speed dial feature. Just another step. I looked at other phones and came to the conclusion that Speed Dial is pretty much a thing of the past, so I decided to keep this phone. Otherwise, I really like this phone. It is a nice size, nice soft lighted keys, compact base. One minor thing I don't like is that the Talk and End buttons are labeled in green and red, respectively, which actually makes them LESS visible than everything else which is labeled in black on silver. Also they are not lighted as the number keys are. The menu key is not lighted either. Everything that shows as orange in the picture is what is lighted. When not in use, the orange is actually silver. I have no problems with interference and the sound quality is excellent. I haven't used the speakerphone feature and probably never will.

Bought this to replace an old cordless that broke. Nothing special - just looking for a reliable cordless phone that works and has decent sound quality. Sound quality is not great, not terrible. It has a bit of an echo when you talk. But still quite adequate for normal usage. At this price, its hard to complain. Feels solid in my hands, and the speaker phone works well.
