Uniden DECT 6.0 Digital Cordless Phone with Caller ID and Two Extra Handsets (DECT1560-3)

I'm not sure what others were expecting...and yes,lemons happen in every product... but this is a Fantastic phone set! I bought it for my 91yr old aunt who was used to the generation of cordless phones with the itty bitty antenna on the end, and back then, it took a lot to teach her how to answer the phone w/o cutting people off (you get the picture :-). She needs more phones and so I gave her a total makeover, plus she has no use for an answering machine or any other "must have" features.

I was delighted with these phones...lighter, brighter and talk about easy to use! Nice large readout screen with excellent contrast makes it easy on the eyes. I made all the handsets "AutoTalk" so when the phone rings, she just picks up a handset and talks...no button pushing! Voice clarity/loudness and ringer are excellent for her and would buy one for myself and they're a breeze to set up.

Despite a history of excellent experience with Uniden phones, this was poor quality right out of the package. It felt inexpensive and proved to be just that despite the price. It worked for about six hours. Now, after not even using the phones, two of the chargers (including the base) have no function. We have interchanged the AC adapters with no success. All three phones have now charged using one charger. It does no good since the base unit is not functioning. Uniden's customer service has, thus far, not responded. Our next call is to Amazon to return the product.

Very, very disappointing. I've used Uniden products for many years, but this will be my last Uniden product. Problems:

1. Very flimsy and cheaply made. See the other reviews.

2. Ni-Cad batteries. Really, in this day and age? They could not have spent another few cents and given their customers a decent NiMH battery? Since this unit is designed to stay in the charger, I expect the NiCad batteries to fail in a matter of months, as they don't like being used in that manner. A replacement set of decent NiMH batteries are going to cost around $20, about half the price of the system.

3. You can't even pick up the handset without activating some useless "feature" that you don't need, don't want and will not use. Then you have to look in the nearly useless manual to try to turn off whatever got turned on. For example, the "New message" LED on all handsets blink all the time. If you follow the procedure to turn them off, they start again in a few minutes. We don't have any messages waiting. (Took 20 minutes of my time experimenting to fix this. Bah!) Ditto for other stupid functions.

4. Related to the above, there is no "stop" or "reset" button, so when the phone goes to some weird function that you didn't want (usually by just picking it up), you have to fumble around to get it to stop and go into the "make and damned call" mode. Poor human interface design.

5. Too many useless functions, pitiful manual. I don't need a new hobby, I need a new phone!

I could go on. Look elsewhere.

It is not unusual to be talking and all of a sudden get cut off, with the phone indicating an "Out of Range" message. When this occurs I discovered that turning the phone off and then back on quickly will sometimes reconnect me. Another issue is that the phone will cut off the other person if it senses any background noise making it difficult to do some other things (e.g., washing dishes) while talking. This makes it almost seem like a walkie talkie since you cannot hear the other party. We have had this phone over 2 years and the button that activates the address book no longer works. I do not recommend this phone.

The phones have good reception and many features that we enjoy using. It is nice to be able to have them in rooms that dont have phone jacks. I would highly recommend these phones.

My first wireless phone was a Uniden, and I've had several others over the years with very mixed results. They usually have more lights, more extras, more desirable features than some of the other, more popular, phones but also serious trade-offs in terms of voice clarity and durability. Price can also be erratic, with individual hand-sets occasionally costing more than than a package that includes a base phone plus three hand-sets. Finally, availability can be a problem, with a number of their phones "on back-order" with no guarantees of a new supply. Amazon's best-selling Panasonic is probably the best value for most consumers but it's likely to be small and without lights, virtually undetectable when misplaced and the phone needs to be answered in a hurry. For those who want a Dect phone that's of a size closer to the phones of the recent past and that's unlikely to be misplaced, I'd recommend the Uniden EZAi 2997 over this 1560, which is close to Panasonic size and price but not quality. Moreover, if you find the Ai 2997, try to get a package deal (2-4 extra phones) now rather than hope to augment it later.

The old Uniden phones worked great and had a long battery life. The new phones die out after 30 to 45 minutes of talk time. If you leave them out of the charger, they should last 10 days, but in reality, they last may 1 day. The old phones had a 3 cell batteries, but the new phones have a 2 cell battery. In addition, their customer support sucks. I wrote them 4 times and called them 3 times without resolution. Avoid these phones.

soooo happy with these phones. exactly what you would expect at this price point. FEATURE I LOVE is being able add to the phonebook on any handset, and then copy it (quickly too!) to all your other handsets!! LOVE THAT! A+ uniden!

I have no problem since I bought this phone. The intercom works really good and I like the different ringers for callers. In other words, it has most of the features like a cellphone. And the batteries last a long time before it needs another recharge. I feel safer that everyone in my house has a phone in their rooms.

Have had Uniden phones for many years. My old ones died, so I bought this set. Like it just fine. Sound quality is good, as with features.
