I have always wondered why Cordless phones had to be so big.
Finally Uniden came out with this new line of Cordless flip phones.
I don't know why...but I seem to buy 1 new cordless phone per year.
So, I feel I'm a bit of an expert on nearly every upscale 5.8 phone on the market having tried nearly all of them.
The best thing about this Uniden, and a big surprise to me is the GREAT sound on both receiving and talking. My brother actually told my my Uniden sounds BETTER than my corded phone. The range is very good as well. My only slight criticisim is you can hear YOURSELF a bit too much in the earpiece. I do like to hear a little of my own voice in the earpiece but in my opinion Uniden messed this part up slightly. However I owned the top of the line AT&T and V TECH 5.8 phones. On those you can't hear yourself AT ALL, thru the earpiece. To me THAT was very disconcerting and I felt disconnected while speaking on these phones.
So again The Uniden's overall sound is simply THE best I've heard...
As far as a FUN/feature rich phone I can see no phone being better than this Uniden. It even has little animated animals showing you time duration of phone call etc. I LOVE the downloadable ringer faeture. You can record 20 seconds of GOOD quality sound...and make it your ringer. For me just for fun...I have a Favorite Beatle song as my ringer. You can also assign different ringers to different callers....very useful.
Another nice feature is you can upload your favorite pictures to this phone and use them for the background wallpaper.
I can go on and on...but it's ALL good news with this phone.
I don't think any cordless phone can top this phone now or in the near future. As a side note, Amazon.com is a great place to buy this product! 24 hours after placing my order this phone went on sale at Amazon. A quick note to Amazon... they adjusted my price down to the new lower price...with a very considerate letter from Cus Service. I'm a big fan of Amazon...!

THE SERVICE IS JUST AS GREAT AS THE PRODUCT IF NOT GREATER,THE PHONE WOULD NOT TAKE A CHARGE , I CALLED THE SERVICE REP, THEY TOLD ME WAS A BAD BATTERY, THEY ALSO ADVISED THEY WERE SEND A NEW ONE THAT VERY DAY I SAY THATS GREAT AND ALSO 5 STARS FOR YOU PAOPLE FOR GETTING SERVICE AS GOOD AS THE PRODUCT TO YOUR CUSTOMERS...........

This is the best cordless phone I have ever used. The sound quality is excellent when receiving, as well as placing calls. The phone is filled with features that are equal to my cell phone, with the same ease of use navigating through the menu screens. Because of the compact size you can slip into your pocket, or use the holster, either of which makes it easy to carry around the house. It is a bit expensive, but in my mind it is more than worth the price!

I ordered this to replace a Bluetooth version that fell and broke, this one is not Bluetooth and I had no way of knowing before the sale, I ended up replacing the broken one with parts from this one

Love everything about this phone. Except the wife keeps thinking its her cellphone and wonders why the call drops when she gets almost a half mile away:)

I have been looking for a cordless flip phone for years, and after an accident promised use of a wheel chair for 8 weeks, I started looking harder, because I wanted something smaller than a standard cordless phone, and something that wouldn't be subject to random key presses while in a pocket. As far as I can see, as of early 2010, Uniden is the only cordless flip currently available phone in the U.S. market, and even this phone and its siblings appear to be an older, probably discontinued product line (introduced in 2005).

Overall, I am pleased, especially with the ability to see caller ID information while the phone is closed, sound quality, and extensive features. Mine came with a spare battery, which I appreciate, but the manual is quite explicit that the battery should be allowed to charge for 10 hours (while not connected to a phone line) before using, so be prepared to wait a day after the phone arrives before actually being able to set it up and use it. Once fully charged, battery life appears to be good.

As a design that is more than 5 years old, the user interface and graphics are a little primitive by 2010 standards. Adding entries to the phone book was awkward until I developed a rhythm. The procedure for entering the VM access number is described on page 44, but nowhere in the owner's manual is the location of the "edit voice mail access number" function explicitly documented. Counter-intuitively, it's the last choice (which is hidden unless you scroll past the visible choices) of System setup > Handset. One would think this would be a global function, but it's not. It took me 2 hours of frustrated experimentation to stumble on where this is located. This phone's user interface isn't bad; it's just somewhat old-fashioned and clunky, but functional.

The PC customization software is old and is not registered with Microsoft, so Windows gives increasingly dire warnings about risks associated with installing the software. Once the software was installed on my Windows XP netbook, the software could not find the phone, so the software is essentially useless for me. An updated version, and a Mac OS version would be welcome, but since this phone appears to be out of production, I expect neither. I speculate that setup, especially the phone book, would be considerably easier through a PC.

Other than these small glitches, it's a great phone -- but what choices do you have? Until Uniden or some other manufacturer introduces a newer design flip phone, it's the ELT560 (and its siblings) or nothing; in that context, this is the best phone available -- it really is peerless!

I bought this mainly because of appearance however after receiving it I am very please it has a battery backup in the base so it will still work in case of power failure. The sound quality is great and it is fairly simple to use. All in all it is a great phone and would recommend it to any body. The only complaint I have is the software to make your own wallpaper will not work on my P C otherwise no complaints at all.

Absolutely love the phone! Wanted "flip" design, as whenever I put my other cordless phones in my pocket, a button would get pushed. Easy to use. Ring tones wonderful. Speaker phone loud and easy to understand on both ends.

This phone is amazing I had owned since 2005 and is great, it stop working like 5 days ago, but considering that I had use it since 2005 I think it last really long.

I think I'm going to buy this phone again, it just had amazing features that other cordless phones don't have such as:

- you can use your custom ringtone and picture for each person in your phone book.

-it vibrates, so you can put it in silence.

-The base as a battery backup, a feature that I found useful during hurricane season ( I'm in FL). you can still use the phone even if the power goes out. kudos to uniden.

I really love the phone however when I went to download the features on the cd rom it was difficult so I havent used those feautres since I got the phone as a gift for Christmas, it was on my wishlist and was purchased however at the time I chose it the phone was only 60.00 dollars in December which was cool for me...Now the phone is like 120.00 or more WOW did I luck out on buying a new concept in its prime because No way would I have used my gift to buy a 100 dollar phone. But its intresting to use the best thing to do is sit down and learn to use the phone. Maybe oneday I'll have my son to go through the whole set up and get the full benefits of this phone.
