Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Uniden's EXP9750 is a basic 900 MHz cordless phone and digital answering machine combo that doesn't have a lot of frills but also doesn't cost a lot. We were most impressed with the answering machine, which has features that some other phones in this category lack, such as a time and day stamp. Although it can only record about 15 minutes of audio, the machine easily records conversations and stores memos that roommates and family members can play back when they get home. Using a PIN number, you can access messages when you're on the road. The unit can also be used as a room monitor, so you can hear what your kids (or the babysitter) is up to while you are away.

The handset isn't too shabby, either. It delivers good sound quality and a respectable range. It's possible to store 10 speed-dial numbers in the handset's memory; three "one-touch priority" keys on the bottom act as shortcuts for the speed-dial numbers assigned to the "1," "2," and "3" keys. The phone operates on a range of 40 channels, and there's a button included to manually change channels if conversations are a little fuzzy. You can mount the base unit either horizontally or vertically. While the base does not include a keypad, it does offer a speakerphone. If you don't use caller ID or any of the other services that require an advanced phone, the EXP7950 should meet your needs nicely. --T. Byrl Baker

Pros:

  • Answering machine has some nice features
  • Phone clarity and range are good for a unit in this price range

Cons:

  • Can't make calls from the base unit's speakerphone
  • The "1-touch priority" keys are basically worthless

Amazon.com Product Description

The Uniden EXA7950 uses 900 MHz technology for long range and quality voice communication. The built-in answering machine stores up to 15 minutes of messages on a digital memory system, so there is no need for tapes and there are no moving parts. The unit has full remote access capabilities, so you can access and listen to your messages when you're away from home. The speakerphone on the base station permits hands-free conversation and is ideal for conference calling. The speed dialer can store up to 10 numbers, so you can easily access and call your close friends and family. You can also save space by mounting the base station on a wall. The ni-cad battery offers seven hours of talk time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a great phone, February 26, 2001

This review is from: Uniden EXA7950 900 MHz Analog Cordless Phone with Digital Answering (Office Product)
I bought this phone because Uniden phones come so highly recomended. It has so many features for the price. They must have scimped on quality when adding the extras. I did not care for this phone. The recoreding quality for the outgoing message was very poor. When making a call the volume for the person I was talking to was low even on the highest setting. My own voice however was unbelievably loud in my own ear. The answering machine had a bit of an echo and there is no place to write down the stored numbers so you know who is in which spot. I am returning this phone and will try a higher end Uniden.

2.0 out of 5 stars Answering Machine Leaves Something to be Desired, July 10, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Uniden EXA7950 900 MHz Analog Cordless Phone with Digital Answering (Office Product)
We've had this phone for about a year and haven't been thrilled. The most disappointing is the answering machine. The outgoing message is not very clear and the incoming are scratchy and not clear either. Just this last week it finally kicked the bucket. I thought it was just the battery but we've replaced it and it still is not working. I'm searching for a replacement now, won't be buying another one of these though.

1.0 out of 5 stars Low Volume Handset, Won't Hold Charge, Poor Sound Quality AM, October 1, 2005
This review is from: Uniden EXA7950 900 MHz Analog Cordless Phone with Digital Answering (Office Product)
The handset is WAY too quiet and will not keep a charge. Both the outgoing and incoming messages are of poor sound quality. Don't even consider purchasing this product no matter the price.
