5.0 out of 5 stars Great phone - owned for several years, would buy again
It's interesting to read the bad reviews... to be honest. I first came across this phone when I got one for my parents more than 7 years ago. At the same time, my in-laws got another one. The phones worked so well, I ordered one online two years later for my home, and my in-laws a second set (they use one downstairs and the other upstairs without interference...

It appears to be a lot of phone for the money, but it's just another cheap 900 MHz analog phone. Its build quality is poor; the handset feels insubstantial. Its keys are tiny and badly labeled. The display is dim and small.

The phone's core functions work fine: speakerphone, caller ID on both lines (IDs displayed on the handset only). A belt clip and headphone jack are standard accessories.

When you take a call, you find the quality during the call comes and goes. Using this phone in same room as the base, there is a constant, audible sine wave of hiss. Wandering more than a few feet turns the cycling hiss into pops and scratches. With enough distance, I get pieces of others' wireless calls.

I traded a much better-built Uniden 900 MHz DSS 2-line phone in for this one because I needed Caller ID. Dumb move. I recommend staying away from anything in Uniden's line that isn't DSS or 2.4 GHz.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great phone except for one problem, October 27, 2003

This review is from: Uniden EXI2926 900 MHz 2-Line Cordless Phone with Caller ID and Speakerphone (Charcoal) (Office Product)
This is a great phone. It had all the features I was looking for -- 2 lines, conf, call waiting, call id, transfer, mute, headset jacks, volume, ringer on/off. The only problem is that you cannot turn off the ringer on the handset. If your talking on one line and another call comes through on the other, it rings loudly in your ear. I called Tech Support and you cannot turn this off -- only to hi or low volume (and 'low' isn't that low). If it weren't for this, I'd recommend it highly.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cannot recommend it, July 16, 2003

After less than one year, I am shopping for a new phone. The handset does not work anymore. I replaced the battery thinking that was the problem but it wasn't. When I click on one of the lines, there is either no sound at all, no dial-tone or anything OR it is just static and fuzz.

I hope my next phone lasts longer than this one did!

1.0 out of 5 stars A terrible phone, November 26, 2001

I bought this phone last Christmas and within two months the handset quit working unless you bang it on something. It also will not hold a charge. What a waste of money!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a good desk phone!, July 8, 2003

This review is from: Uniden EXI2926 900 MHz 2-Line Cordless Phone with Caller ID and Speakerphone (Charcoal) (Office Product)
I bought this phone with the intention of using it in my home office. The caller-id function is very important to me. Unfortunately, the phone lays to flat for you to see the caller-id display or read the keypad. Also, speakerphone volume is really loud, even when turned all the way down. I am taking this phone back.

It's interesting to read the bad reviews... to be honest. I first came across this phone when I got one for my parents more than 7 years ago. At the same time, my in-laws got another one. The phones worked so well, I ordered one online two years later for my home, and my in-laws a second set (they use one downstairs and the other upstairs without interference issues).
As for what I have read:
Battery life: the original one lasted about a 2 years, the replacement is easy to find, and I normally buy Panasonic batteries, however, any generic brand is OK. As for usage, in stand-by runs for about 3 days, and talking... more than 3 hours (depending on the battery capacity of course).

Range: We take the phone to our neighbors' houses, more than 150feet away and it works perfectly, even through walls, with clear sound.

Buttons: have never faded, easy to operate, never get stuck.

Construction: VERY sturdy, has fallen numerous times, and now our baby has given it a good deal of rough use. Absolutely no issues. It is a little bulky, but I prefer that when holding it with my shoulder.

Other features:
Caller ID with memory for each line / plug for handsfree headset / headset volume setting / channel selection / 900MHz better for penetration through walls and no interference with WiFi networks / speakerphone base can be "conferenced" with headset / Intercom / Ring volume on base: Off,Low and High.

OK it does have a few cons:
Ring volume: true, it cannot be turned off at the headset, but during conversation it rings in a much lower volume, not the normal level when not in use.
Caller ID: it's a little slow, normally must wait for the second ring.

4.0 out of 5 stars good phone, January 22, 2007

This is a good phone for the price. Does what it says it does. The voice quality is clear and nice. 900MHz is less crowded spectrum now as the 2.4G interfered with the wireless routers 802.11b/g. The range is decent. I hope the battery lasts and also I hope it will be durable in the long run.

You might not like the price on this, no matter how low the sale is, but you will see it all worth it when it arrives. If you find it hard to hear the other line walking around your house, then I suggest you move. This phone is so clear, when your in the same room with it's charger, it will seem as if you are actully in the same room with your chatter.
