Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Are you looking for a cordless phone you can take outside, upstairs, and down the hall without losing your connection? The Uniden EXP7900 provides clear, long-range transmission at an affordable price.

Before testing the EXP7900, we charged it for the recommended 15 to 20 hours. The sturdy handset has an intuitive button layout featuring flash, memory, and three "one-touch priority" keys. The memory function stores up to 10 phone numbers. The priority buttons dial the numbers you have stored into memory locations 1, 2, and 3 on the keypad.

Learning the phone's features was also easy and intuitive. To save a number, we pressed the memory button, entered the phone number, pressed memory again, and then assigned a number between zero and nine. The handset beeped to let us know the number was saved. To dial a saved number, we simply pressed talk, memory, and then the memory location (0 through 9). Dialing a number from a priority button is even easier; pressing "m1," "m2," or "m3" dials the number automatically. If you subscribe to call waiting, you can switch to an incoming call by pressing the flash button.

Since the EXP7900 operates in the 900 MHz radio band, its signal can easily penetrate walls and other physical barriers better than lower frequency signals, while maintaining a clear connection. During our tests, we noticed a slight humming sound in the background but it wasn't enough to be distracting. We were able to use the phone 100 feet from the base with no interference and up to 700 feet with some background static. The channel button activates a 40-channel auto scan that finds the best channel for your current call.

Additional features of the 7900 include redial, ringer selection, and volume. You can choose between two different ringer sounds. The volume button adjusts your ringer to high or low, and also provides three receiver levels. While you are on a call, simply press the volume button until you reach the level you want. A handset locator button on the base allows you to find your handset if it is within hearing distance. The EXP7900 is also hearing- aid compatible and can be wall-mounted. --Emily Bakko

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the money, April 14, 2000

This review is from: Uniden EXP7900 900-MHz Analog Cordless Phone (Office Product)
This is a great phone for the money. It has all the basic features, and it was rated a Consumer Reports best buy in their February 2000 test of cordless phones (which is why I bought it).

It doesn't have a headset jack, and no caller id, but the reception is good, it sounds great, and it's very simple to use. The memory dialer seems a bit slow too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear and Long Lasting, September 2, 2000
This review is from: Uniden EXP7900 900-MHz Analog Cordless Phone (Office Product)
For the money, this phone as an excellent range and comes in crystal clear with very little static from background appliances and lighting. True, digital is a step up but all in all this phone has a lot of nice features. The key feature being the memory setup; I use it often to check voice mail and my various voice mail accounts at work. I simply hit M1 and I'm off an running!

I've not noticed the humming that was spoken of in teh professional review but I have noticed it's durability to take a fall and still carry on a conversation. If this phone was dropped once it's been dropped at least a dozen times or more. Nothing has broken and it still works like a charm.

Stop by Amazon Electronics and pick one up! It will be pleasing to your wallet and those you speack to on the other line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great phone...bought a second one!, September 29, 2000

This review is from: Uniden EXP7900 900-MHz Analog Cordless Phone (Office Product)
I purchased this phone a little over a year ago and it came time to replace the battery. I found the battery and the phone for close to the same price so I just went ahead and purchased the whole new phone...with another years warranty tacked onto it. Please, look into doing this since batteries aren't the cheapest things on Earth. This phone gave great clarity and range and its a very comfortable handset to hold in your hand and on your shoulder. Please also note...I'm an employee of Vtech phones...and I'm buying a Uniden. That should tell you something :)
