4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the money
This is a great phone for the money. It has all the basic features, and it was rated a Consumer Reports best buy in their February 2000 test of cordless phones (which is why I bought it).

It doesn't have a headset jack, and no caller id, but the reception is good, it sounds great, and it's very simple to use. The memory dialer seems a bit slow too.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother
I bought this phone as a Christmas present for a friend. We now refer to it as the "possessed" phone. It clicks and makes strange noises, even when fully charged. You get what you pay for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear and Long Lasting, September 2, 2000
This review is from: Uniden EXP7900 900-MHz Analog Cordless Phone (Office Product)
For the money, this phone as an excellent range and comes in crystal clear with very little static from background appliances and lighting. True, digital is a step up but all in all this phone has a lot of nice features. The key feature being the memory setup; I use it often to check voice mail and my various voice mail accounts at work. I simply hit M1 and I'm off an running!

I've not noticed the humming that was spoken of in teh professional review but I have noticed it's durability to take a fall and still carry on a conversation. If this phone was dropped once it's been dropped at least a dozen times or more. Nothing has broken and it still works like a charm.

Stop by Amazon Electronics and pick one up! It will be pleasing to your wallet and those you speack to on the other line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great phone...bought a second one!, September 29, 2000

I purchased this phone a little over a year ago and it came time to replace the battery. I found the battery and the phone for close to the same price so I just went ahead and purchased the whole new phone...with another years warranty tacked onto it. Please, look into doing this since batteries aren't the cheapest things on Earth. This phone gave great clarity and range and its a very comfortable handset to hold in your hand and on your shoulder. Please also note...I'm an employee of Vtech phones...and I'm buying a Uniden. That should tell you something :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Long lasting, Superb Clarity., July 10, 2000
This review is from: Uniden EXP7900 900-MHz Analog Cordless Phone (Office Product)
I've had this phone for about two years now. When brand new, i could walk a few hundred feet away from the base and still get a signal. After many times dropped and a weak battery, the range has since suffered. One thing I can honestly say is that it's durable. Good for a busy house.

A minor complaint is the earpiece doesn't quite come out enough - as it's easy to hit the talk button and disconnect a call by accident. Needed to change battery after about a year of heavy use.

Would recommend especially at this price.

Since fancy features are unimportant to me on a cordless phone, I went with price. The Uniden is a perfectly good phone: clear sound, sturdy, compact, the works. I have had it for five months and no trouble at all. ... ? Go for it...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Product At A Good Price, October 30, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Uniden EXP7900 900-MHz Analog Cordless Phone (Office Product)
This cordless phone by Uniden is 900 mghz for excellent clarity and range. The price is unbeatable. We bought one for my father-in-law who fights anything techno with a ferocity sometimes found in 80 year olds.

Now, he delights in telling all his friends about this phone. How he can walk around without worry over tripping over a cord, how we programmed his memory numbers so he can call people more easily and his favorite feature--the pager. If he misplaces the phone, which we all have done, he simply presses the page button on the base in his kitchen, and hears his phone calling from it's hiding place!

Dispite the price, the sound quality is very good for this phone. If you don't need all the fancy gadgits then I recoment this phone. The battery life could be better but the sound makes up for it.

If you want a good phone at a good price without the bells and whistles, this is the phone I would recommend. I bought it because I needed a phone in white and I am keeping it because the conversations are extremely clear. I have experienced some incidents of interference but the channel changer on this phone remedies the problem. The handset is lightweight but solidly built making it very comfortable to hold to my face. The phone costs less than the battery I had to buy for my exspensive Panasonic and gives just as good, if not better of a performance.

For the money, you can't beat this phone especially with the $5 rebate that's included. The basic features are as good as any higher priced model (although if you have caller ID you're going to need a box) and programming numbers is simple. The sound quality is also good and it has a great range (our house has three floors and I can go up and down without experiencing background static), although we have another line and when that phone rings and I'm on the Uniden I do get interference. All in all you're getting a quality phone at a savings.

I have owned this phone over a year, and it is a very good phone. The sound is clear, it's easy to program, it's durable, and the price is right. The only drawback is that I get less than 7 hours of talk-time, and sometimes it starts beeping to be recharged during a conversation, but I am probably on the phone too long! I bought this to replace an AT&T phone which was horrible and never worked right. I am very happy with it.
